AFI’s DWW program mentors filmmakers through the production cycle of a short film, providing hands-on instruction led by industry experts. Since the program’s launch in 1974, DWW has trained over 350 filmmakers that strive to give voice to historically underrepresented perspectives.
Applications will reopen for the program in August 2021. In the interim, AFI is committed to the current participants who were forced to adapt their production timelines due to the global pandemic.
AFI is also committed to increasing the scope of DWW to bring even more diverse stories to the screen. If you are interested in applying when the expanded program reopens, sign up here to be notified.
