    Kubernetes dropping Docker is not that big of a deal via & I know many developers are having kittens right now because it looks to them like is depreciating Docker. That's Not really what's happening. Read on.

    Nothing changes. Keep using Docker. Kubernetes only leverages a fraction of what Docker is capable of at runtime. In fact both can leverage containerd and runc to manage the underlying processes. The container image is portable. How you build and run them is up to you.

    Now that K8s is dropping Docker, what do you suggest folks use for local containers or simple orchestration (replace docker compose) on a mac? (example use case would be a local Wordpress + MySQL with volumes to local fs)

    containerd as a core for both Docker and Kubernetes 👇

    For the sake of clarity: k8s isn’t “deprecating” docker. Containerd was created _specifically_ to be a better building block for systems such as k8s. Docker uses containerd internally, and k8s is finally abandoning an intermediate layer it never really needed. This is good news!
