EVAAS - What's New in 2019

New Section in Reports Menu

Growth of Student Groups for districts and schools and School Accountability Growth (SAG) reports are now listed under a new Accountability Reports section in the reports menu.

Grades and Subjects without 2018-19 Reporting

Due to changes in state assessments during the 2018-19 school year, EVAAS reporting for districts, schools, and teachers does not include growth measures for grades4 and 5 Social Studies or grade 4 Science. Historical growth measures from 2016-17 and 2017-18 are reported where available.

Changes to Math 3

In 2018-19, the Math 3 assessment changed from an NCFE to an EOC. EVAAS includes Math 3 in two different value-added composites:
• The Educator Effectiveness Growth(EEG) Composite includes all students who took the Math 3 assessment. The Math 3 NCFE was included in the EEG Composite in past years.
• The SAG Composite includes Math 3 students flagged in the data provided by NCDPI. The Math 3 NCFE was not included in the SAG Composite in past years.

Changes to Projections

The following changes have been made to projections:
• EVAAS does not provide projections for the K-2 assessment to grade 2.
• EVAAS provides projections to grade 3 Reading for students in grades 1 and 2 who have enough prior test scores.
• In addition to projections to the next tested grade, EVAAS now provides projections to two grades above the last tested grade for EOG assessments. For example, students who last tested in grade 4 (currently enrolled in grade 5) now have a projection to grade 6 for both EOG Math and English Language Arts in addition to the grade 5 projections that were previously available.
• Projections historically reported through the College Readiness Dashboard are now located in the projection summaries.

Change to NCFE Score Type

Starting in 2019, Normal Curve Equivalents are used for NCFEs in order to provide prior year measures on diagnostic reports. Prior year measures are still displayed as scale scores on the web.
