It is simply a middling show that just doesn't try very hard to be good. The writing is average, the story is meh and the acting is not good enough to have it rise above average. Huisman and Evans are not bad nor good here, but I especially have not taken to the lead actress, Jessica Ann Collins. Every scene has me questioning the casting choice here, but then again, it might be less her fault than the writers. My recommendation would to be to take a flyer on this one.… Expand

Excellent show and well worth the watch. Jackson and Milloti have great chemistry and the rest of the cast is right there with them. A littleExcellent show and well worth the watch. Jackson and Milloti have great chemistry and the rest of the cast is right there with them. A little bit White Lotus meets only Murders in the Building, with just a smidgen of LOST tossed in. Marketed as a comedy and yes, there are humorous moments, but the story and the more drama/mystery element of the story are what brought it home for me. Highly recommend.… Expand

Chief criticism is that it could have been a really good 5 episode show, but there is a lot of unnecessary filler from time to time that does nothing to advance the story. That said, not sure what the writers were thinking (SPOLIER ALERT COMING) when they had the lead actress make her way into the most powerful power grid in Iran dressed as a security guard with a fake beard and mustache. Good grief, Paul Blart's Mall Cop would have spotted the imposter within seconds but the guards at one of the most high security sites in Iran couldn't spot it. Really ridiculous. Still, a decent enough show to check out.… Expand

It packs everything , from judgmental societal shaming, generational conflicts, beloved parents who die too soon, resentful colonized victims, heartless and greedy business tycoons, but most of all it brings boundless human complexity to its characters. It does, at times, fall victim to melodramatic cliches but they're easy to overlook as the show takes every opportunity to dig deeper into the human condition. Beautiful show.… Expand

A lot could have gone wrong in presenting a bunch of wealthy vacationers looking out at the sheer beauty of their surroundings and finding nothing but misery, while hotel workers struggle to contain their contempt, but everything, series wise, came up aces. Jennifer Coolidge is undeniable as a self-loathing wealthy woman and Jake Lacy is lights out as the douchey preppy bro honeymooner. The White Lotus is a pleasing, intelligent, and well-paced romp, one think is certain though, it won’t make anyone miss overseas travel.… Expand

It's a rare treat to stumble across a little-known but captivating shows like “We Are Lady Parts,” There are enough laughs to carry the showIt's a rare treat to stumble across a little-known but captivating shows like “We Are Lady Parts,” There are enough laughs to carry the show alone, but it has so much more going for it. Loved all the characters, from strong willed front women Siara to Amina, puke-prone guitarist with stage fright. All the characters are Muslim, which might explain the critical embrace WALP gets on Metacritic vs the the more finicky user reviews(some folks just won't evolve) The show is sharp, humane and ambitious, far far more so than most comedies I have watched over the last few years. Rather than lean on the stereotypes that society has thrust upon Muslim women, WALP gives us rich portraits of the five members with a full arc and lots of cultural depth. Check it out, well worth the watch.… Expand
