I have no illusions that everyone shares my opinion. I think that choice too often is used by designers to offload decisions they should have been making to the customer. These graphical settings highlight that the developer tried to do too much given the consoles fixed power and that whatever choice the player makes it will be a compromised experience.

@thisismatt Thank you. But it is a sad state of affairs that the common practice of patching out bugs and glitches has made the jump from the games industry to games journalism.

Dont know how old that build is, but it needs waaaay longer in the oven. Lots of graphical hiccups, and really poor, floaty character animation. Concept looks lovely though.

Oooh, you intrigue me with your trailer Ubi, you do a good job.

Let's just hope it leads somewhere more than another little mission, ala the Predator mission, which had a great build up with finding the bodies, the trophies and following the blood trail, but to end with a poor "randomly spawning hit it till it's dead" fight. The end was a shame but you nailed the feel, until that point anyway.

I guess what I'm saying is I'd love a new SC game with Ironside doing the voice, doesn't seem right otherwise. Just don't make it's a short mission in a good game, just make the game.

@Hirouakan It'd be nice if this was a story tease for the upcoming Splinter Cell. Give us a little idea about what the plot of the game will be.

This makes it sound like we can actually witness the comet/virtual nuke landing & the landscape changing in front of our eyes. Even if it's a cut scene I'd be impressed.

Otherwise I fully expect to log in one night & the map is different/more like it was before. Hmm.

One things for sure. If they didn't already head there too much before then they will now it's rumoured to be finite in its existence. So it's Fucked as a map feature basically 😂

I'm almost sure a new Splinter Cell is on the horizon. They're probably repurposing some dev time from it to produce this dlc as a nice tie-in. I rarely get hyped about a game but this franchise never disappointed me. Even Conviction, which was super dumbed down, was fun and had it's moments, specially co-op. Can't wait for a new one.

And you, like many, are going out of your way to deflect the reality of the situation of more and more games being released in unfinished, sometimes terrible states unfolding in the industry. And it IS getting worse.

However, your absolute refusal to accept this means this debate will just go on and on. You're clearly happy to support this path the industry is heading down, whereas I am not, so best we leave it there.

This is an improvement on what we had before and will come in handy, my only complaint is the main new website, it's too easy to miss articles unless you check everyday compared to the old site which made it easy to catch up on articles even after a few days, on this new site, it's made worse and slower, if they sort that out then that would make the new site great.

@OnlyJoeKing Same, that would be helpful for many gamers because many settings can be lowerd whiles having a minor impact on visuals whiles improving performance a lot.

(Rumours are they might be releasing one this year)

Would LOVE to see Sam Fisher return at full strength! With the demise of Metal Gear Solid we sorely need a well done stealth game. (Hitman is great but the episodic structure was a turn off for me.)

@Cyber6

Facts is facts. SoT was released hugely under-developed and severely lacking in content and not at ANY one point in the build up to release did Rare or MS make this clear. Gamers found out AFTER the game was launched.

No matter which you spin it that's pretty underhanded.

I do find it ironic that during the launch of NMS the Xbox fanbase relished in tearing strips of Hello Games, however now that a very similar scenario has come about with an Xbox exclusive, (in that Rare made no effort to inform gamers that the SoT is utterly lacking in content and comes with no end game), said fanbase is rallying around to defend Rare. Pretty funny really, made even more so by the more fervent Xbox fanbase, completely blinded by their loyalty to a corporation, refusing to acknowledge this on any level.

On the flip side, however, and not quite as funny, is that this blind acceptance from gamers for un-finished games with $50 price tags (with the expectancy that the game MAY be finished later), sets a bad precedent moving forward.

If gamers on the whole want to be treated like mugs by this industry then so be it, for me though I absolutely refuse to play ball and will never support these practices.

@DoucheVader Funny that, assuming that what I said was based on bias when you have replied to a LOT of posts on this thread to make sure everyone knows you don't think much of Disney.

Now I am really not a fan of whete EA are taking everything at the moment, although there is a lot of stuff I loved in the earlier part of John Riccitiello's reign, before he got pushed into a desperate corner and decided that MTs had to be everywhere.

But that actually has no bearing on my previous answer. I would say you have no fucking clue how a company like Disney works. They have several different areas of Business, film & TV being the biggest, but also the leasure parks being a prestige piece interactive entertainment being something they have drawn away from. Now they licence these off to partner companies.

All of the departments are led seperately, and when these companies are doing their job well, the senior management people running those business units will be trusted to know their stuff.

The company president is certainly not going to want to spend his time managing licences to other companies in a field that as a corporation they have decided doesn't fit their strategy ezcept as something to licence out.

Now the brand is important to them, that is why they will have someone in a senior management role, who they hope is competent enough to oversee these projects. That manager will have a relatively small team, not because they don't care, but because they are liasing with external companies, not producing the thing.

If the management above the (senior) manager whose job it is to oversee this get involved, it will be seen as a failure in that department.

Do you really think after Disney have closed all their studios, and outsourced this as they don't think being a game publisher/studio owner, the top level management would be spending time with this over looking at strategy for Star Wars movies, Margel Movies, the New Alladin, the extremely massive Fox takeover or expansion into digital platforms?
They may have some general strategy points, but the main thing they aim to do is get the right person in the job they can trust to do it.

That said, Disney do give a shit over bad publicity, not over the ethics. If this had made them a nice wad without a furore, they would certainly have been happy.

@ambershee GOG is our best bet but they will have to allow DRM for more publishers and developers to get onboard with it, also, if it does happen, I would perfer if games are avilible for either storefront so we can choose, not what EA does with Origin where you have to buy from them because if we got more storefronts doing exclusives, it likely will incress piracy.

@erlinghagen well they've got to sell the game I suppose. Wouldn't be doing their jobs otherwise. Look I've not even finished it yet. I just find all the negative articles about it here a bit one sided. It's a fun game. Sometimes that's enough for some. I get enough politics at work and in the real world myself. I want to escape that with a game. Far Cry gets the balance quite good IMHO. Though it was never for everyone.

I saw this footage a little while ago. The game itself seems alright, but on a visual level it looks pretty under-developed. Everything inside the house looks great. The artwork looks great close up. However, when you're outside the house you can't appreciate that detail as everything is further away from the screen. What you get is a very bland and basic looking environment with some annoying pop-in.

Obviously the game is still a few months off and there's plenty of time for polish.
