The Emerging Business Technology Outlook for 2015
The savvy CEOs that approved significant investments in business technology
during 2014 are reaping the rewards of their first-to-market leadership
advantage. Meanwhile, executives at the fast-follower companies are no doubt
assessing how they plan to catch-up with the early-adopters of cloud services
in 2015.
This rapidly evolving IT transformation scenario is pervasive. It's happening
in every corner of the globe. So, what's the outlook for worldwide cloud
service adoption and how will the key trends impact cloud computing
infrastructure investment? To get the answers to those questions, we'll look
at the findings from the latest Cisco Global Cloud Index (GCI).
Cisco forecasts continued strong growth of cloud traffic, cloud workloads and
cloud storage -- with private cloud significantly larger than public cloud.

If you know anything about Hadoop architecture - the task seemed daunting to
us and it proved to be one of the most challenging engineering feat that we
have accomplished so far.
After almost 24 months of development, tens of thousands of lines of Java,
Scala and C++ code, multiple design iterations, several releases and dozens
of benchmarks later we have the product that can deliver real-time
performance to Hadoop with only minimal integration and no ETL required.
Backed-up by customer deployments that prove our performance claims and
validate our architecture.

What do you get when you combine Big Data technologies….like Pig and
Hive? A flying pig?
No, you get a “Logical Data Warehouse”.
My general prediction is that Cloudera and Hortonworks are both aggressively
moving to fulfilling a vision which looks a lot like Gartner’s “Logical
Data Warehouse”….namely, “the next-generation data warehouse that
improves agility, enables innovation and responds more efficiently to
changing business requirements.”
In 2012, Infochimps (now CSC) leveraged its early use of stream processing,
NoSQLs, and Hadoop to create a design pattern which combined r... (more)
The State of Real-time Analytics in Financial Services
My company, GridGain, recently announced the results of a survey that asked
close to 200 IT decision-makers - including project managers, network
managers, software and business analysts, and other technology professionals
working in the financial services industry - about their companies'
attitudes, practices and challenges around data technology, with a focus on
the state of the industry's adoption of real time analytics technologies.
Here's what we found:

In-Memory Technology Will Open the Doors to a Wave of Innovation
by Abe Kleinfeld and Nikita Ivanov
Gordon E. Moore's famously predicted tech explosion was prophetic, but it may
have hit a snag. While the number of transistors on integrated circuits has
doubled approximately every two years since his 1965 paper, the ability to
process and transact on data hasn't. We're now ingesting data faster than we
can make sense of it, leaving computing at an impasse. Without a new
approach, the innovation promised by the combination of Big Data and internet
scale may be like the flying car... (more)
Why 2015 Will Be the Year of the Platform
This past year has continued to see rising enterprise cloud adoption, and
with it efforts from tech giants to control the cloud through price wars.
Like most things, the path we've taken to this point will certainly impact
where the road ahead will lead.
If 2014 was the continued battle for cloud infrastructure, 2015 will be the
rise of the cloud platform, as enterprises will focus on creating apps and
workflows that take advantage of the growing platform options across
enterprise needs such as HR, Financial Services and IT. The rise of t... (more)
