M-Farm – Market Access in Kenya

IFAD: East Africa Trade Transparency
techfortrade and IFAD have jointly funded an initiative to roll out an innovative approach to fair, secure and transparent smallholder agricultural trading in East Africa. The new approach, known as Transaction Security Services (TSS) will adopt apprenticeship style training to teach agricultural traders in Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda how to adopt the new methodology, which incentivizes traders by aligning commission income with the achievement of best prices for farmers. 3D4D Challenge
techfortrade has been at the forefront of the debate around the potential for 3D printing technologies to improve the position of the world’s poorest communities. In 2012 we ran our first challenge – the 3D4D Challenge – which aimed to find transformational uses for 3D printing that could deliver real social benefit in the developing world. Find out more »
Ethical Filament Foundation
techfortrade, Michigan Technological University and Dreambox Emergence have launched the Ethical Filament Foundation, establishing a fair working and trading standard for the production of 3D filament from recycled plastic waste. The foundation aims to ensure the availability of an ethically produced alternative to standard commercial filament, reduce the environmental impact of waste plastic and facilitate a source of profitable and sustainable income for waste pickers in developing countries.
