Looks fun. I don’t have a PS4 but I will consider this when it hits PC.

I think certain specific communities (no examples) are worse than others, but in general I think the issue is blown significantly out of proportion.

The more they continue to diss defenders, the more I dislike it.

I wonder if this could lead to them offering digital editions of comics alongside their physical trades, like they do with kindle editions of books?

Part of the reason why I’m alright with this guy is I totally agree with that pic. Boobs4lyfe.

1 replyWell watching Buddy Complex has kinda turned me around on ongoings, so I decided to try a couple others.
Soul Eater Not! seems like it will be really enjoyable. Tsugumi’s a nice MC.
Black Bullet seems decent. I like that the MC isn’t a dope.
Akuma no Riddle feels somewhat derivative, but I enjoyed the first episode. They did a good job portraying Haru as someone you’d want to protect.

1 replyI enjoyed it. In some ways it does more worldbuilding in one episode than the previous anime did in its entirety. It overall seems like it’ll be a pleasant watch.
The cast seems solid (though Black Star looks like a chump now), and I’m totally down for a more relaxed series set in Soul Eater’s normally action-packed world.

1 replyAniplex has licensed all three Madoka movies in NA, so they’d be the folks to look to if you’re looking to get your hands on them.

1 replyOne of the things I really like about the show is how smoothly they position Eri (and to a lesser extent Yakumo) as focal points of the show. They quickly go from being supporting characters to overshadowing Tenma and even Harima at times.

…Other than Flash? Because you know, Flash. If nothing else it’s worth reading just for the beautiful art, but it also does a nice re-imagining of the Speed Force and Iris as a character has never been better.
I personally am really enjoying Forever Evil, but like any comic book event it’s quite a mess. Wonder Woman had a pretty good start too, but I haven’t read her recent issues.

Also, while I got the generally idea of the arc right, it turns out some of the details I gave are actually wrong, or there was more to it than I initially remembered. So not 100% spoiled.
I found myself thinking a lot about that arc after this podcast, and went back and rewatched it. All I have to say is that Kaede is a really tragic character.

And that puts a cap on Yamato. There’s a point 2/3s of the way through the final episode where they make you think they’re going for a bullshit ending, but then they pull a rope a dope.
Excellent, excellent show. Heartbreaking moments, badass moments, hilarious moments, nail-bitingly suspenseful moments it’s got all. It might be the 4th series I’ve seen to score a ten.

1 reply“New Teen Titans?”
Is that gonna be a new series alongside current Teen Titans? It doesn’t look like they’re changing up the roster..

Well…not everything. Just Kaede’s arc. Most every girl has some kind of past. Hers is just the most involved.
Also I want to say that I recited that whole synopsis from memory, which in retrospect is a testament to how memorable I found that whole thing to be. So there!

Well I watched the first episode of Daimidaler. That show is really silly, but in kind of a boring way. I get what they’re doing, I just don’t find it entertaining.
The OP is pretty good though, and the MC looks and acts like he just stepped out of the 80s.

Still pretty long..

So far, so great. I loved the first episode. If he doesn’t use a boomerang special attack by the end I’ll be very disappointed.

So? I’m pitching it for the comedy, not the romance. And that’s only 1/3 of the post.

1 replyEr…
buddy, I know how you missed the memo, but the theme here is comedy, not romance.

Well, Buddy Complex eased me back into watching ongoings, and now I’m out a show to watch with the crowds.
I think I’ll catch Captain Earth.

The only thing I would say about the movies is to keep in mind that they are three movies tasked with condensing about 50 episodes’ worth of plot.

Where you want to start with Gundam will depend on which timeline you’re more interested in. At this point, the franchise is about evenly divided between shows that take place on the UC timeline (short for Universal Century) and shows that don’t take place in the UC timeline (which are referred to as alternate universe or AU shows).
UC is where Gundam started, with Gundam 0079, or simply Mobile Suit Gundam. All UC Gundam shows take place within a single universe and fit within a single timeline: the Universal Century timeline. So that means you can watch them in chronological order and experience a vast string of interconnected stories. In my opinion UC shows tend to be of a consistently higher quality than AU shows, which can be hit or miss. Zeta Gundam, 08th MS Team, Victory Gundam, and Gundam Unicorn are all examples of UC shows.
AU Gundams are mostly standalone. They take place in their own universes. The fact that they aren’t beholden to UC means that they can do some interesting things of their own, though. Gundam Wing, Gundam X, Gundam SEED, and G Gundam are all AU shows, as an example. Turn A Gundam is technically AU too, but apparently it’s actually the super-distant future of UC.
If you want to get invested in UC, I would say start with the original series. It hasn’t aged very well in my opinion, but it really is worth a watch to appreciate the shows that follow it. If AU is more attractive to you, you can pretty much start anywhere you like. A lot of people got their start on Gundam Wing or SEED.
To dispel everything I just said, even with UC I think you can start pretty much anywhere. The only things I think wouldn’t be appreciable by beginners are Unicorn, F91, 00, and perhaps ZZ.

He’s neither here nor there with me. Like you, I think him spending much of Zeta basically living a lie is kind of weird but I was never that into the Zabi’s political story, so I’ve never thought much of Char or his background.

3 repliesBack to my scheduled programming…it’s come to my attention that I don’t really care for any of Zeta’s major recurring characters, except maybe Fa, Emma and Bright. Scirocco’s a pompous asshole, Jerid’s a hypocritical chump, Katz is stupid and (even worse) thinks he isn’t, Kamille reminds me too much of Shinn, and Reccoa is largely incompetent.
But uh, it’s pretty good. Also Yamato 2199 is baller as hell and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
