Capy confirms Xbox One roguelike Below for Steam

The latest trailer for Below, the new "roguelike-like" from Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP developer Capy Games, confirms that the title will launch on Steam. The studio clarified last August that Below will be an Xbox One timed exclusive, and that after an unspecified period of time, Capy can bring the game to other platforms. Microsoft's self-publishing parity clause for independent developers requires devs to launch games the same day on Xbox One as other platforms; however, Microsoft is addressing the clause on a case-by-case basis. You can check out Below's environment in the latest trailer "Come in From the Storm" above, set to songwriter Jim Guthrie's composition. Previously released video "Pause" features Guthrie's "You, Me and the Sun Swallowing Sea." Guthrie, who...

Watch Keiji Inafune design Mighty No. 9's robot enemies

The latest Kickstarter backer update for Comcept's Mighty No. 9 details the state of the game as well as what players can expect from the enemies and environments robot protagonist Beck will encounter on his journey. The grunt enemy robots, shown as sketches in previous updates, are undergoing additional polish and nearing their final forms, according to the update. The video above shows Inafune giving feedback on the humanoid-type enemy robot, which he noted should still be less human-like even though it is built like one. These upright standing robots, instead of holding shields and guns, have their shields integrated into their torso; when they need to use them, their torso rotates around to bring the shield from its back to the front of its body. The update also includes artwork...

Dragon Age: Inquisition won't have post-launch DLC party members

Dragon Age: Inquisition will not release additional party members as post-launch downloadable content due to the game's intimate treatment of companion characters — and because these add-on party members would need to be shipped on the disc, creative director Mike Laidlaw told OXM. Inquisition will include nine party members for players to choose from, six of which have already been announced: Cassandra, Iron Bull, Sera, Solas, Varric and Vivienne. Three more are on their way, with BioWare promising to reveal one each month. Laidlaw explained that more characters can't be randomly added to Inquisition due to the size and scope of the game and its heavy emphasis on relationships with companion characters. In order to make more characters available after the game's release, their data...

Broforce - Overview video

Have you ever seen a film with at least three explosions in it? You may enjoy Broforce. It's really kind of amazing how much Broforce is able to get away with — though its large roster of brotagonists have had their names tweaked, you can very well see that, yes, that's Indiana Jones, and yes, that is Cordell Walker, who is also a Texas Ranger. Parody isn't the only thing it has going for it, though; Broforce also has some really frantic action, clever environmental combat mechanics and some genre-bucking boss fights. Also, Robocop. In this Overview, Justin and I make our way through the Steam Early Access build of Broforce, giving each of its heroes a whirl in the process. If you want to be surprised with each unlock, you might want to shy away from this video until you, too, have...

Titanfall patch coming today, adds private matches and more (update)

Respawn Entertainment plans to release a Titanfall patch today that will give users the ability to play private matches, the company announced on Twitter. Studio head Vince Zampella originally announced in early March that Respawn intended to add private matches with a post-release patch. "There's things that we want in the game that we didn't get to ship in the final game," he said. Today's update will also reduce the requirement for the Gen 5 challenge called "Gooser," which tasks players with killing 50 ejecting Pilots in mid-air, from 50 to five. Respawn announced the change late last month, saying, "We went a bit too far with this challenge, especially considering the unique conditions that have to be met in order to have the opportunity to get a kill on an ejecting Pilot."...
