Or the developers could, oh I don't know, maybe not make the violence so over-the-top as it currently is? _________________ Currently playing: Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days (PSP) |

California's ban - which was originally signed by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger.
What a judas Arnie is he never complained when his mush was on the cover of numerous violent games tied to his violent movies like Terminator etc,
He seems to sing a different tune when there is no royalties for him at stake. _________________ Watch your step, the red mists of Richyrage are descending mwahahaha |

Now the kids are going to have to get their video games from the x-rated porn shop as well? That's just unreasonable. |

Schwarzenegger u nazi c**t, its ok for him to prance about stark bollock naked in terminator and make s**t films like conon the barberian that should be x rated coz you will wast more of your life watching that than playing in the garden with a swing ball kit u know on the pack theres a whole fukin happy family with the fattest grins on, well i tell you what its not like that at my house when we had 1 there was no happy dad coz hes not live with us, there was me my bro my mum burnin s**t on the bbq and my great nan the only time we smiled was wen we pulled the pole out the ground and smash it round our great nans chops for buying us that s**t, theres only 1 way to play games and thats on a pc or console the dirty slut.
Any way back to arniecuntzernega, there was also that film spin off of conon the barbarian called colon the butcher were he fuked silvester stalon bearback pro (just like on modern warfare 2) then forced him to suk his own s**t off his dik, and he complains about us just sticking some mug in a game. |

Or maybe you can't stop being so thick in the head. I don't want some asshole that doesn't even play video games telling me what I can and cannot do. Censorship is wrong and they'll apply it to some things and not others. Its hypocrisy at its best. I say as long as you're not harming anyone else you should be able to do whatever in the hell you want to.
As for pornography its completely retarded in some states you have to be 21 to even watch a porno. Yet I can join the army and get my head blown off at 18. Same with the drinking age at 21. Again I'm mature enough to go kill people overseas, but having a beer is out of the question.
I don't want these complete idiots telling me what I should do. Yet unfortunately I have to listen to these close-minded pr*cks. If they do this for video games than it is a must that they do it for films as well. Otherwise its total one-sided bullsh*t. Another day in paradise. |

This is ridiculous, how can you give movies a free pass? Like I said, its the blame game. Parents blame game developers for making the games that somehow make your children violent. Yet society has been violent for centuries and videogames are relatively new medium. Possibly these same individuals get into debt and claim that it was the credit card company's fault for approving you and causing you to spend money your ass didn't have. This nation is going down the tubes, blame everyone but yourself. |

Woah, woah, woah what's the big f**king deal here.
"The US Supreme Court agreed in April to review a motion prohibiting the sale or rental of violent video games to minors."
That sounds reasonable enough to me. I was under the impression this was already the case anyway.

I'm all for some sort of control so that these f**king pencil pushing suits can stop blaming games but wow, it seems these douches have some sort of vendetta on the gaming industry. Why can a kid go to the cinema and watch any movie there as long as they're with an adult?

I've scanned that story several times and I keep expecting to find the name 'Jack Thompson' in there somewhere.. but sadly could not.
It's an absurd proposition, particularly coming from the USA. So what they are saying is that it's ok to carry a real gun, but not to play a video game where you pretend to be a soldier with a gun? |

There is nothing wrong with this. We have the same damn thing. You cannot buy a rated game unless your old enough. They just want the same thing stateside. The problem is the rating system itself in the states, it needs to be updated for both movies and games. _________________ REAL JOIN DATE: NOV 2001!!!!! PROBABLY EARLIER!!!!! |

If it has an M on it, don't sell it to the kids. That's really all there is to know. But, of course, everyone has to make it a hundred times more complicated than it ought to be.
My feeling is that devs and publishers are worried about sales dollars....essentially meaning that they really are dependent on selling M games to minors. Which is bad. |

To the Mommies of America, Australia and Britain:
Feck your kids. I am sick of having to worry about them. YOU worry about them and leave me and my video games alone. Above all, SHUT UP. If you are too stupid and lazy to look at a rating that is clearly denoted on a box before buying or allowing your kid to play a game, then they deserve to be screwed up and you deserve to have screwed up loser children. On top of that, if you are unwilling to abide by the ratings system, YOU HAVE ZERO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. Your kids ARE NOT the most important thing in the world. I DO NOT CARE what happens to your kids. You act like everyone else is supposed to look out for YOUR kids and I'm sorry, but I'm not your babysitter. TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR FAMILY and LEAVE ME ALONE. IT'S NOT MY JOB and I refuse to compensate for your incompetence any longer. |

I personally don't understand it. They aren't allowed to sell Mature rated games to minors anyway. Making it illegal won't do anything. I have to show my I.D. every single time I buy a Mature game. Now if they want to prevent it from minors buying then change Mature rating to 18 instead of the 17 that its at now. Same with R rated films. Then only Adults will have the ability the buy them. No big deal. Making it illegal won't change a damn thing. I will still have to show my I.D. just like I've always had to.

Its not bad. Most minors are mature enough to play M rated games. Some aren't, but most are. The biggest issue with this the developers have is the classification of 'pornography' or 'adults only'. In certain states 'adults only' content can only be accessed by someone 21 or older. Which is not right. This content cannot be sold in regular retail stores and will have to be in a separate area where minors can't access it. Just like in some states sex shops and smoke shops cannot even be entered by someone under 18 or even 21 years old.
Why do you think they don't sell porn or smoking accessories at places like Target or Best Buy?? 'Adults only' content is prohibited, and if games fall under this category it denies them from many retailers stores. Plus 18-21 is a huge chunk of sales that could be lost. |

What's the big worry here? In the UK it's already law not to sell mayture rated games to minors. Isn,t that what this is actually about and after happening in the States?
If so, it's hardly the end of the world and won't result in anything much happening except stores stopping selling 18 rated games to kids. I get that Arnie is a tool(met him and he;s the single most boring, dull and dim sounding man I ever came across)and pathetically wants his legacy but the industry will prolly win and if they don't I cannot see this being a big deal anyway.
Apologies if I'm missing something but what's so bad about the ages on the boxes actually being policed a bit? |

I hope it eventually eliminates swearing, nudity and all the blood, gore and dismemberment in video games. People that feed off this rubbish should have to get it from their home town porn-o store.
My state has all porn outlawed so don't bring your dirty mitts here |
