Media Statement by Prime Minister on Hurricane Tomas Fellow citizens of Fiji I address you this afternoon regarding the recent events that have come about because of Hurricane Tomas (‘Tomas’).
Most of Fiji and in particular the densely populated areas were spared the devastating effects of Tomas. However, our citizens in the northern region, the Lomaiviti and Lau Groups have suffered the brunt of Tomas.
Special Weather Bulletin No. 32 - TC Tomas now cancelled Special Weather Bulletin Number Thirty-Two for Fiji on TROPICAL CYCLONE TOMAS issued from RSMC Nadi at 7:40am this morning, Wednesday the 17th of March 2010.

Tropical Cyclone warning previously in force for the Fiji Group is now being cancelled.

A strong wind warning remains in force for Southern Lau but is now cancelled for the rest of the Fiji Group.
Tropical Cyclone Tomas - Update Mr Anthnoy Blake, operations officer at the National Emergency Operations Centre held a press conference today Sunday 14th March 2010 updating media on the developments associated with Tropical Cyclone (TC) Tomas.  The following are  extracts from Mr Blakes update together with additional public advisories taken from the National Emergency Operations Centre.  A tropical cyclone warning is in force for the whole Fiji. TC Tomas is now a Catrgory 3 hurricane moving southwest at 16km/hr. As at 4.00pm today Sunday 14th March 2010, TC Tomas was located about 260km north-northeast of Udu Point.
