Located on the Waterfront in Downtown Plymouth, North Carolina, this museum is housed on the Roanoke River in the circa 1923 Atlantic Coastline Railroad station . It is primarily a Civil War museum revolving around the 1864 "Battle of Plymouth". The second largest Civil War battle fought in North Carolina, the Battle of Plymouth involved twenty thousand soldiers and sailors. This battle was the last Confederate victory in the war and the last glimmer of hope for the failing South.

Come and see us!!

On display, the original Union Battle Flag that flew over the Customs House during the 1864 Battle of Plymouth
Port O' Plymouth Museum packs a lot of history into a small space. You will find impressive displays of cannon balls, bullets, buttons, buckles, guns, pictures, and thousands of battle artifacts .
Now nationally recognized, the museum is very proud of the loan of items from the Historic Society of Buffalo, New York, the Smithsonian Institute, and others that help tell the story of  Plymouth, North Carolina and its part in the War Between the States.

Many artifacts found in the fields where battles took place over 100 years ago have been loaned by local citizens.
A model of the CSS Ram Albemarle and recovered artifacts are on display against an artist painting of the 1860's Plymouth waterfront.
