CWLP supplies Springfield and eight surrounding communities with water from Lake Springfield, a 6.6 square mile man-made lake. More than 5,400 individuals are at home but are considering a return to the workplace...Affordable...25% of underemployed workers said they would be available for new employment opportunities at a wage of $9.99 per hour or less...Adaptable...Over 67% of the underemployed possess skills in industrial machinery, assembly and welding. 68% of the underemployed hold college degrees or attended college. 52% are between the ages of 20-39. 59% are women.

 

 

WE HAVE AFFORDABILITY ... Springfield tops the affordability list based on comparisons of local home sale prices and family income, appearing consistently in the Top 10 Most Affordable Housing Markets since the National Home Buyers Association began rankings in 1992. The cost of living in Springfield is less than the national average, according to surveys conducted by ACCRA.

 

 

WE HAVE ATTRACTIONS ... The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is be a major national tourist attraction, adding to our rich history as "The Land of Lincoln." Springfield also supports cultural entities including the Springfield Muni Opera, the Hogeland Center for the Arts and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. The Prairie Capital Convention Center hosts a variety of concerts and events annually, as does the Sangamon Auditorium at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The White Oaks Mall is the largest indoor shopping facility in Central Illinois and Downtown Springfield boasts a delectable array of restaurants and specialty shops.
