Every Stanford undergraduate should give serious consideration to studying away

Regardless of the academic path you choose, you will be enriched by your journey in one of our study away programs. Your time with BOSP will equip you with transformative educational experiences—regularly taught by Stanford faculty—that inspire you to embrace new challenges in complex global settings. Roughly half of each graduating class studies away through BOSP during their undergraduate career at Stanford. Participating in a BOSP program will help you develop the skills required to excel in the global workforce, and will add value to your life and the lives of others.

My study away experience in Madrid

“Studying abroad in Madrid was a great way to try new subjects and styles of classes. As a STEM major, I rarely get the chance to take smaller, more intimate classes. Madrid’s courses include interesting subjects like art history and dance. Getting to try new class subjects– as well as classes taught in Spanish– has enriched my overall college experience.”

Faculty Reflection

“Co-leading the BOSP Japan seminar was one of the most unique teaching and learning experiences that I have ever participated in. Our activities created opportunities to learn from and connect with each other that I don’t think I’ve experienced in other learning settings. Visiting temples and shrines, staying in a monastery, meeting with doctors and ethicists, together with an amazing cohort of students, created a special bubble of magic and mini-community among participants that I won’t forget.”
