Dear <<First Name>>

For the past two years, CEDR has been working on improving the inclusivity of the Commercial Mediation Profession. This is because through our Foundation Research
we know that the Commercial Mediation profession is less diverse in the areas of gender, ethnicity and age than other comparable professions, and more importantly that it is not reflective of the rich diversity present in wider society.  We believe that it is important that mediators represent all sections of society and that particularly there needs to be an increase in mediators from under represented backgrounds.

The CEDR Diversity and Inclusion Mediation Charter

One of the outcomes of our work was the benefit of an industry Charter to allow mediators, mediation providers, law firms and clients to demonstrate their support and commitment to improving inclusivity in UK Commercial Mediation.

We have developed the CEDR Diversity and Inclusion Mediation Charter, which allows for individuals and organisations to show their commitment to inclusivity in mediation. You can learn more and sign the Charter here.

Virtual Launch Event – 27 January 2022, 5:30pm-7:00pm UK

We will be formally launching the Charter at a Virtual Event at 5:30pm UK time on 27 January 2022 where (pictured left to right) James South, Chief Executive of CEDR, Lauren McGuirl, Director of Commercial Services, Amrik Kandola, CEDR Mediator, Eileen Carroll QC (Hons), Principal Mediator, CEDR and Joanna Page, CEDR Chair, will be addressing the benefits of inclusivity in Commercial Mediation.

As James South says, “It is important the mediation profession reflects the community it serves and CEDR recognises that there is a lack of ethnic, age and gender proportionality within the mediator community.

The CEDR diversity charter is just one of CEDR’s initiatives to increase diversity in the mediation profession. By law firms, mediation providers and individual mediators working together at the point of selecting mediators to provide their services, we can begin to unlock more opportunities for all”.

We kindly welcome you to sign the Charter and to attend this event virtually.
