Taxonomy archive page URL

I’ve altered the permalink URL of the taxonomy to ‘event’, but the URL to the category archive page still includes the ‘news’ part of the slug that is set in the main WordPress custom permalink setting. So at the moment the archive page URL is this:
/news/event/event-category-name
And I need it to be this:
/event/event-category-name
I’ve flushed the WP permalinks, but nothing changed.
