John Hanc is a veteran New York-based journalist and writer. A former Contributing Writer to Runner’s World and Running Times magazine, he is also a long-time contributor to the New York Times, Smithsonian, and Newsday. His award-winning memoir, The Coolest Race on Earth: Mud, Madmen, Glaciers and Grannies at the Antarctica Marathon, chronicles his participation in the 2005 edition of that race. Hanc also teaches nonfiction writing at New York’s Fordham University.
