Web Summit 2025 is expected to bring together over 70,000 founders, investors, builders, and leaders in Lisbon, many of them actively looking for their next hire, deal, or opportunity. According to our recent poll series, 84% of professionals say they’re open to new roles, even if they’re not actively looking. Which means every conversation is a pitch, whether you realise it or not.  In that crowd, your story, and whether it signals fit, is what separates the memorable from the forgettable.     The competition is multi-sided: 1) Founders are competing to attract the best talent in a market where great leaders are rare.  2) Leaders are competing for roles where they can do their most meaningful work, not just collect titles.  3) Investors are competing to spot and back teams that can deliver under pressure — not just sell a vision.    Fit doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when stories resonate on both sides.  So here’s what needs to change as we enter Q4:  • Founders: “Here’s the challenge we’re solving, why it matters, and the role someone would play in making it real.”  • Leaders: “Here’s how I generate impact, where I do my best work, and how I see myself growing next.”  • Investors: “We back people who turn momentum into outcomes — not promises into slides.”     Everyone already has an elevator pitch.  The best ones now aren’t about selling — they’re about fit.     I’ll be at Web Summit in Lisbon in November with my colleague Carlos Fernandes, Partner at Cribb Executive Search, and looking forward to connecting with founders, leaders, and investors.
