WoW Forever Herbalism is a primary gathering profession that lets you pick herbs from nodes across Azeroth. With the WoW Forever release, Herbalism in WoW Forever also brings three new level 60 herbs, four tiers of herb seeds, Scarce materials, and three camp objects. This WoW Forever Herbalism guide explains where to train each rank, which professions pair well with it, and how to level Herbalism from 1 to 300 zone by zone.
WoW Forever Herbalism Key Takeaways:
- WoW Forever Herbalism goes up to 300 skill, and every full Herbalism trainer teaches all four ranks, from Apprentice for 10 copper up to Artisan for 5 gold at character level 35.
- Leveling Herbalism from 1 to 300 follows the Classic herb route, starting in any starting zone and ending in Felwood, the Plaguelands, and Winterspring.
- New herbs Marefoil, Demonsage, and Death Lotus are used in the four new level 300 Alchemy flasks.
- Herbalists can craft three camp objects, the Incense Candle, Greenhouse, and Seed Hybridizer, which give an Intellect buff at a Campfire and grow herbs from seeds.
- The Bountiful Harvest Legacy perk makes Scarce materials from Herbalism, Mining, and Skinning 20% more likely to drop per rank.
WoW Forever Herbalism Overview
WoW Forever Herbalism supplies the herbs that Alchemy, First Aid, and several other professions need. It stays useful from your first quest to level 60. You gather herbs by walking up to a node with Find Herbs active. Most players pick it up on their first character because herbs can be sold on the Auction House from the very first levels.
Herbalism in WoW Forever has no crafting recipes for consumables, so the only items an Herbalist can make are camp objects, which are placed next to a Campfire and buff everyone sitting nearby.
What Changed in WoW Forever Herbalism
WoW Forever Herbalism keeps the 28 Classic herbs with the same skill requirements. The main changes come from new items you get while gathering. Here are the differences compared to Classic:
- New herbs: Marefoil, Demonsage, and Death Lotus are item level 60 reagents used in endgame recipes.
- Herb seeds: Four tiers of seeds drop as extra loot from herb nodes, and they can be planted in a Greenhouse to grow more herbs.
- Scarce materials: Frilled Lichen, Rosecap, and Stranglevine sometimes come along with a regular herb.
- Camp objects: Herbalism now has three recipes of its own, all of them camping items.
- Starting areas: even Northshire and other starting areas have Wilted Peacebloom and Stunted Silverleaf nodes, so you can start leveling at level 1.
- Tauren racial: Cultivation now grows a duplicate of a nearby herb that you can harvest without Herbalism skill, and each herb can be cultivated only once.
Like in Classic, WoW Forever Herbalism gives no passive bonus by itself, so the profession is useful because of the herbs, the Scarce materials, and the camp buff.
WoW Forever Best Classes for Herbalism
The best classes for Herbalism in WoW Forever are Druid and Hunter, because their class spells help them move between herb nodes and deal with the mobs around them. However, any class can take the profession, since it needs no tools and no special armor. Here’s what each group of classes gets from it:
- Druid: Travel Form speeds up movement between nodes outdoors, and the Herbalist’s Gloves are Leather, which Druids wear for the whole game.
- Hunter: Feign Death can trick nearby mobs into leaving the Hunter alone, which helps when an herb grows next to hostile enemies.
- Cloth wearers: Mages, Priests, and Warlocks can use the Apothecary Gloves, which add Spell Damage together with the Herbalism bonus.
A Tauren of any class also gets Cultivation, which grows a second copy of a nearby herb for Tauren Herbalists to harvest. Every other class benefits from Herbalism through Alchemy, because the herbs become the potions and flasks that all roles use in raids.
WoW Forever Herbalism New Herbs and Seeds
The new WoW Forever Herbalism materials are split into level 60 herbs, Scarce materials, and seeds. Exact node locations and skill requirements for the three new herbs have not been published yet, and the sources of Rosecap and Stranglevine have not been listed either. The table below shows what is known about each of them:
| Material | Type | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Marefoil | Herb, item level 60 | Node location unknown |
| Demonsage | Herb, item level 60 | Node location unknown |
| Death Lotus | Herb, item level 60 | Node location unknown; Enchant Gloves – Lotus Claw in Hyjal |
| Frilled Lichen | Scarce | Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Stranglekelp |
| Rosecap | Scarce, item level 45 | Node location unknown |
| Stranglevine | Scarce, item level 60 | Node location unknown |
| Herb Seeds | Commonplace Herb Seeds, Uncommon Herb Seeds, Unusual Herb Seeds, Scarce Herb Seeds | Extra loot from herb nodes |
Commonplace Herb Seeds have been found on Peacebloom and Earthroot in the starting zones. Thus, it’s worth keeping every seed you find. Seeds are planted in a Greenhouse to grow herbs over time, or combined at a Seed Hybridizer into rarer tiers.
Some herbs also drop old Classic extras. For example, Mageroyal and Briarthorn can give Swiftthistle, while Purple Lotus can give Wildvine.
How to Learn Herbalism in WoW Forever
You can learn Herbalism in WoW Forever from any Herbalism trainer. Players in the starting areas can also pick Wild Harvest as a reward from an early quest. This manual teaches Herbalism if you know fewer than two professions. It also adds 2 skill points up to a maximum of 15. Higher ranks need both a skill level and a character level, although none of them requires a special quest or book.
WoW Forever Herbalism Ranks
WoW Forever Herbalism has four ranks, and each one raises your maximum skill by 75 points. The training costs and requirements are the same as in Classic:
| Rank | Max Skill | Requirement | Training Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice | 75 | No level requirement | 10 copper |
| Journeyman | 150 | 50 skill, level 10 | 5 silver |
| Expert | 225 | 125 skill, level 20 | 50 silver |
| Artisan | 300 | 200 skill, level 35 | 5 gold |
The full training costs 5 gold, 55 silver, and 10 copper, so the whole profession costs just over 5 gold to train. By the way, the Incense Candle recipe costs another 1 silver at the trainer once you reach 20 skill.
WoW Forever Herbalism Trainers
WoW Forever Herbalism trainers in the capital cities teach every rank up to Artisan. However, the trainers in starting areas only teach Apprentice. The table below lists the main trainers for each faction, together with the neutral ones that both factions can use:
| Trainer Type | Alliance | Horde | Neutral |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apprentice only | Nancy Songflower (Northshire), Emrys Flintbeard (Coldridge Valley), Eleyna Duskbreeze (Shadowglen) | Zor’la (Valley of Trials), Garan Sunstrider (Red Cloud Mesa), Florence Nightshade (Deathknell) | NA |
| Main trainers | Shylamiir and Tannysa (Stormwind City), Reyna Stonebranch (Ironforge), Firodren Mooncaller (Darnassus) | Jandi (Orgrimmar), Komin Winterhoof (Thunder Bluff), Martha Alliestar (Undercity) | Halassa Fernbreeze (Shen’dar Village) and Syriel Nightrain (Valanaar) on Zephras Isle |
| Field trainers | Kali Healtouch (Thelsamar), Telurinon Moonshadow (Menethil Harbor), Cylania Rootstalker (Silverwind Refuge), Brant Jasperbloom (Theramore Isle) | Faruza (Brill), Aranae Venomblood (Tarren Mill), Angrun (Grom’gol Base Camp), Ruw (Camp Mojache) | Flora Silverwind (Booty Bay), Malvor (Nighthaven, Moonglade) |
There are also full trainers in smaller towns, such as Herbalist Pomeroy near the gates of Stormwind, Alma Jainrose in Lakeshire, Malorne Bladeleaf in Dolanaar, Edward Egan in Dalaran, and Mishiki in Sen’jin Village. In addition, a trainer can give you the Camping 101: Herbalism quest from level 4, which teaches your first camping item.
Running between trainers and herb zones takes a lot of time. If you’d rather have someone play these hours for you, our WoW Forever Hourly Driving lets a booster handle the farming tasks you choose.
WoW Forever Herbalism Tools and Gear
WoW Forever Herbalism requires no tools, and the only spell you need is Find Herbs, which shows herb nodes on your minimap. Only one type of tracking can be active at a time. Thus, Herbalists who also take Mining will have to switch between Find Herbs and mineral tracking on their routes. WoW Forever Herbalism skill boosts from gear and food stack with each other. With the full set, you can gather herbs that need up to 25 more skill than you have:
| Item | Herbalism Bonus | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Apothecary Gloves | +2 | Cloth gloves, also add Spell Damage |
| Herbalist’s Gloves | +5 | Leather gloves, requires level 22 |
| Enchant Gloves – Herbalism | +2 | Uses Kingsblood |
| Enchant Gloves – Advanced Herbalism | +5 | Uses Sungrass |
| Goldthorn Tea | +15 | Lasts 15 min, also gives 5% more XP from kills |
Goldthorn Tea gives the largest bonus after you drink it for 10 seconds. It is very helpful when you want to move to the next zone early. The new Enchant Gloves – Lotus Claw works differently because it gives a small chance to get Death Lotus from any herb gathered in Hyjal.
Best Professions to Pair with Herbalism in WoW Forever
The best professions to pair with Herbalism in WoW Forever are Alchemy and Mining. The choice depends on whether you want to craft or to sell raw materials. Here is how each pairing works:
- Alchemy: almost every Alchemy recipe uses herbs, and the four new flasks, such as Flask of Natural Swiftness, need Death Lotus, Demonsage, or Marefoil. Gathering your own herbs saves a lot of Gold on the way to 300 Alchemy.
- Mining: it is a good pairing for players who want to make Gold, because herb nodes and ore veins often share the same zones. The downside is switching between the two tracking spells.
- Skinning: this pairing also works for gathering only, since you can skin the beasts you kill on the way between herb nodes.
- First Aid: as a secondary profession, it now crafts the Healing Potion line, and the lower ranks use Peacebloom, Briarthorn, and Bruiseweed, while the top ranks use Liferoot, Sungrass, and Golden Sansam.
Herbalism with Alchemy is the best option for raiders who want their own flasks and potions. On the other hand, two gathering professions bring Gold faster during leveling. To start crafting consumables right away, you can order our WoW Forever Alchemy service, which levels Alchemy to 300 skill with the materials handled in the order. After that, you can craft raid flasks and elixirs for your own runs.
Making Gold with Herbalism in WoW Forever
Making Gold with Herbalism in WoW Forever starts from the first level, since every herb you pick while questing can be sold on the Auction House. Herbs are used by Alchemy and First Aid, so there are always buyers for them. Enchanting also needs Kingsblood and Sungrass for glove enchants.
At level 60, the main demand comes from raid consumables. The four new Natural flasks need Death Lotus, Demonsage, or Marefoil along with Golden Sansam, Mountain Silversage, Dreamfoil, and Icecap. Classic flasks still need Black Lotus, while Elixir of the Grizzly uses Gromsblood and Blindweed.
The best option is to check prices on your server before selling. A stack of herbs sometimes sells for more than the potion made from it. Also, seeds from herb nodes can be planted in a Greenhouse, which gives you extra herbs to sell on the Auction House.
Our WoW Forever Starter Pack gets your character ready for endgame, and as a result, you can reach the level 60 herb zones and start farming the level 60 herbs sooner.
More ways to earn gold are covered in our WoW Forever How to Make Gold Guide.
WoW Forever Herbalism Leveling 1-300
WoW Forever Herbalism leveling from 1 to 300 is done by gathering herbs that match your skill. Most players level it naturally while questing, since herbs grow in the same zones as their quests. Each herb gives a skill point every time for the first 25 points after its requirement.
After that, skill-ups become rarer, and the herb turns gray 100 points above its requirement. Orange and yellow herbs give the most points, so green herbs are worth picking only when they are close to your route.
WoW Forever Herbalism Zones by Skill
The WoW Forever Herbalism zones below have the most nodes for each skill range, although the same herbs also grow in other zones. It is best to pick the zones that match your faction and character level:
| Skill | Herbs | Zones |
|---|---|---|
| 1-70 | Peacebloom (1), Silverleaf (1), Earthroot (15) | Any starting zone, including Zephras Isle |
| 70-115 | Mageroyal (50), Briarthorn (70), Stranglekelp (85), Bruiseweed (100) | Darkshore, Loch Modan, Silverpine Forest |
| 115-170 | Wild Steelbloom (115), Grave Moss (120), Kingsblood (125), Liferoot (150) | Hillsbrad Foothills, Wetlands, Stonetalon Mountains |
| 170-205 | Fadeleaf (160), Goldthorn (170), Khadgar’s Whisker (185), Wintersbite (195) | Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi Highlands, Alterac Mountains |
| 205-230 | Firebloom (205), Purple Lotus (210), Arthas’ Tears (220) | Tanaris, Searing Gorge |
| 230-270 | Sungrass (230), Blindweed (235), Ghost Mushroom (245), Gromsblood (250), Golden Sansam (260) | The Hinterlands, Un’Goro Crater, Feralas |
| 270-300 | Dreamfoil (270), Mountain Silversage (280), Plaguebloom (285), Icecap (290), Black Lotus (300) | Felwood, Eastern Plaguelands, Western Plaguelands, Winterspring, Burning Steppes, Silithus |
If you level a crafting profession together with Herbalism, the herbs you pick will not cover every reagent it needs. Our WoW Forever Professions Kits provide the reagents needed to level professions without farming them.
WoW Forever Herbalism 1-75
WoW Forever Herbalism 1-75 uses the herbs of the starting zones and the first leveling zones around them. Here’s what to gather for the first 75 points:
Peacebloom and Silverleaf grow in every starting zone, and Earthroot joins them at 15 skill on hills and near cliffs. Mageroyal and Briarthorn appear in the next zones, such as Darkshore, Westfall, or Silverpine Forest. Train Journeyman at 50 skill once your character reaches level 10, since Apprentice stops at 75.
WoW Forever Herbalism 75-150
WoW Forever Herbalism 75-150 adds herbs that grow only near water or near graveyards, so this range takes a little more searching. Here are the herbs for this range:
Stranglekelp grows only in or near water, so the coasts of Wetlands and Darkshore are good places for it, while Grave Moss grows near crypts and graveyards. Hillsbrad Foothills, Wetlands, and Stonetalon Mountains have Bruiseweed, Wild Steelbloom, and Kingsblood close together. Train Expert as soon as you reach 125 skill and level 20, since Journeyman stops at 150.
WoW Forever Herbalism 150-225
WoW Forever Herbalism 150-225 takes you through Arathi Highlands and Stranglethorn Vale, and then to Tanaris and Searing Gorge. The herbs for this range are:
Wintersbite grows only in Alterac Mountains, so it is a good option for the points around 200 if you are already nearby. Train Artisan at 200 skill and level 35 before you travel on, as there are no Herbalism trainers in Tanaris or Searing Gorge.
It is also worth keeping a few Purple Lotus and Arthas’ Tears from this range, because the Greenhouse recipe uses one of each.
WoW Forever Herbalism 225-300
WoW Forever Herbalism 225-300 ends in the level 50-60 zones, and Black Lotus needs the full 300 skill. The route for the last 75 points is:
The Hinterlands is good for Sungrass, although Ghost Mushroom there grows only inside caves. Later, Un’Goro Crater adds Blindweed, Golden Sansam, and Dreamfoil. You can finish in Felwood and the Plaguelands, or in Winterspring for Icecap and Mountain Silversage. Artisan is the last rank, so you won’t need another trainer visit in this range.
In case you want to reach the skill you need without spending evenings on herb routes, our WoW Forever Herbalism service levels the profession for you.
WoW Forever Best Herbalism Recipes
The best Herbalism recipes in WoW Forever are its three camp objects, because they are the only items an Herbalist can craft. Each one sits next to a Campfire and gives nearby players an Intellect buff. All of them share a 1-hour cooldown with other camping features. The table below lists all three recipes:
| Camp Object | Skill | Source | Reagents | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Incense Candle | 20 | Herbalism trainer or Camping 101: Herbalism | Peacebloom, Silverleaf | Intellect buff from 2 to 25 by level, does not stack with Arcane Intellect |
| Greenhouse | 140 | Blueprint: Greenhouse from Shadetooth, Excavation Site in Wetlands | Simple Wood (2), Arthas’ Tears, Purple Lotus | Incense Candle buff, grows herbs from planted seeds |
| Seed Hybridizer | 300 | Blueprint: Seed Hybridizer, source TBA | Mountain Silversage (4), Crystal Vial, Runecloth (2) | Incense Candle buff, multiplies seeds or combines them into rarer tiers |
Each craft makes two camp objects, and a Greenhouse or Seed Hybridizer can also be placed over an Incense Candle to replace it. As for the Blueprint: Greenhouse, it has a drop chance of about 8% from the elite beast Shadetooth, so it’s a good idea to bring a friend. The Incense Candle buff is useful for every Mana user in your group, especially when no Mage is around to cast Arcane Intellect.
Although Greenhouse unlocks at 140 Herbalism, its reagents include Purple Lotus and Arthas’ Tears, which require higher gathering skill. You can purchase these herbs from the Auction House if you want to craft the Greenhouse early.

Herbalism Legacy Perks in WoW Forever
Herbalism Legacy perks in WoW Forever increase Scarce material drops and skill gains. However, Herbalism has no Legacy Challenges of its own, so it does not give Legacy Points. You spend points from other challenges in the professions tree on these perks:
- Bountiful Harvest: increases the amount of Scarce materials gathered from Herbalism, Mining, and Skinning by 20% per rank, up to 100% at rank 5.
- Working Overtime: This perk raises the chance to gain a skill point from any primary, secondary, or class tradeskill by 4% per rank, so 5 ranks give 20%.
- Dedicated Study: Once every 23 hours, it adds 1 point to your lowest primary or secondary profession. After both primaries and all three secondaries reach 300, it gives 2 to 4 random Elemental Essences.
- Performance Bonus: each rank gives a 5% chance to receive 100% more Merchant’s Favor when you turn in a supply crate to the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics.
For an Herbalist, Bountiful Harvest is a very valuable perk, since it works for all three gathering professions at once.
