The ban column covers the 38 heroes released before 29 September, over 43,004 Ranked matches.

Tiers follow the Ranked win rate at all ranks. S needs 53.5% or more, A 52.0% to 53.49%, and B 50.0% to 51.99%. C covers 48.0% to 49.99%, D 46.0% to 47.99%, and F anything under 46%.

Win rate is the share of Ranked games the hero won. Oracle+ is the same figure for matches where both teams average Oracle I or higher. Pick rate counts games with the hero per 100 Ranked matches, and both teams can pick the same hero.

The 6 New Heroes in City Never Sleeps

Valve released 6 heroes between 2 and 20 October, 2 a week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 2pm PT. Players voted on the release order. All 6 play in Ranked, and they were 1 to 23 days old during the 21 to 25 October matches. 4 of them hold the highest pick rates on the list: Nurse Harrow 84.6%, Rat King 70.4%, Violet 67.3% and Deadman Danny 61.4%.

Rat King, released 2 October

Rat King arrived on Friday 2 October as the 1st hero of the player vote. He is a durable close to mid range brawler with a bouncing Scrap Grenade, a Rat Swarm whose bites cut bullet resist and a Royal Pestments barrier. His ultimate, Rule, Ratannia!, charges a banner that gives nearby allies move speed and damage reduction.

On 5 October Valve cut that ultimate. Its cooldown rose from 130 to 160 seconds, and its damage reduction fell from 20% to 15%. Its radius shrank from 24m to 20m, and the charge time from 12 to 10 seconds. The same patch raised Scrap Grenade damage from 65 to 70 and cut the Rat Swarm cooldown from 28 to 24 seconds. He still sits in S at 54.37%, with a 70.4% pick rate, and wins 53.03% in Oracle+ games.

Baba, released 6 October

Baba arrived on Tuesday 6 October, the day Valve moved the season end to 5 November. She brawls on the front line, drains enemy spirit power into herself with Threadsap and stretches her bench legs for speed and height with Granny Long Legs. Baba's Brew throws a tea zone that cycles between barrier, silence and burn, and her ultimate, Feed The Birds, stacks a slow on targets.

On 14 October Valve nerfed her in 12 lines. Her spirit resist scaling fell from 0.12 to 0.1, and her base bullet resist is now minus 7%. Threadsap's drain now ends when she dies, and its cooldown rose from 26 to 28 seconds. The Granny Long Legs cooldown rose from 30 to 32 seconds, and her airborne melee attacks carry less momentum. Baba's Brew barrier scaling fell from 1.2 to 0.7, and its barrier from 100 to 90. Its cooldown rose from 25 to 27 seconds. In Street Brawl, Threadsap's duration is 35% shorter. She still leads all 44 heroes at 55.77% and does even better in Oracle+ games at 56.95%. Her pick rate is 21.0%.

Solomon, released 9 October

Solomon arrived on Friday 9 October and fights like a chess player, with a Setup Bishop that slows and a Rook Battery that immobilizes. Kingside Knight turns an ally or Solomon himself into a knight with a barrier, and his ultimate, Develop Queen, crashes a queen into the fight.

He has had no balance change since release. He sits in F at 45.89% with a 21.3% pick rate, and wins 47.26% in Oracle+ games.

Deadman Danny, released 13 October

Deadman Danny arrived on Tuesday 13 October with a rocket launcher and a rocket jetpack. Chimera Mk1 lets him fly until it overheats, and Strix Salvo fires missiles that lodge in the ground, explode and mark the target. Jettison Fuel shreds bullet resist, and his ultimate, Close The Deal, deals bonus damage to targets under 50% health.

On 14 October Valve buffed him in 14 lines. His base health rose from 680 to 730 and his health regen from 2.5 to 3.25. His uncharged shot went from 12 to 15 damage and his charged shot from 44 to 48. Chimera Mk1 heal on hit scaling doubled from 1 to 2, its weapon scaling rose from 1.15 to 1.4, and slows in the air are 15% weaker. Its cooldown scaling per boon also improved from 0.25 to 0.45. Strix Salvo's cooldown fell from 30 to 25 seconds, its spirit scaling rose from 0.9 to 1.1, and its T2 and T3 upgrades grew. Close The Deal's 1st upgrade bonus rose from 50 to 90, and its bonus on targets under 50% health from 50% to 75%. Rocket jumping now costs 5% of max health in place of 6.5%, as spirit damage.

He sits in C at 48.33% with a 61.4% pick rate. In Oracle+ games he falls to 45.94%, the largest Oracle+ drop of any hero.

Violet, released 16 October

Violet arrived on Friday 16 October and fights with ink and paint. Living Ink makes her next 3 bullets steerable and harder hitting, and Flow State drags a brush trail that gives allies extra slide distance and slows enemies. Still Life deals spirit damage over time while she keeps looking at a hero, and her ultimate is Abstract Landscape. Valve has made no balance change to her since release.

She sits in B at 50.17% with a 67.3% pick rate, the 3rd highest on the list. In Oracle+ games she wins 49.81%.

Nurse Harrow, released 20 October

Nurse Harrow arrived on Tuesday 20 October as the last hero of the vote, which drew over 110 million votes. She heals allies with Healing Needles and drains enemies with Leech Therapy, a jar of leeches that deal spirit damage over time. Wretched Vapors gives her or an ally a rush, then a crash, and her ultimate, Lurking Terrors, fears enemies.

She sits in C at 49.57% with an 84.6% pick rate, the highest on the list. In Oracle+ games she wins 49.91%.

Where All Ranks and Oracle+ Disagree

Oracle+ covers 27,572 matches where both teams average Oracle I or higher. 24 of the 44 heroes sit within 1 point of their all-ranks win rate. The 8 below have gaps big enough to change a pick.

  • Deadman Danny wins 48.33% at all ranks and 45.94% in Oracle+. He is a weaker pick at Oracle and above, where he drops 2.39 points.
  • Celeste wins 49.14% at all ranks and 51.50% in Oracle+. She gains 2.36 points at the top, which puts her in B range for Oracle+ players.
  • Holliday wins 47.83% at all ranks and 50.35% in Oracle+. Her 2.52 point gain is the largest on the list and lifts her from D range to a winning record.
  • Vyper wins 51.33% at all ranks and 53.23% in Oracle+. At Oracle and above she plays in A range, a stronger pick than her B letter shows.
  • Wraith wins 53.07% at all ranks and 54.19% in Oracle+. She clears the 53.5% S line in Oracle+, so top players get even more from her.
  • Victor wins 53.30% at all ranks and 51.42% in Oracle+. He drops to B range in Oracle+, so most of his A letter comes from games below Oracle.
  • Paige wins 54.05% at all ranks and 52.36% in Oracle+. She falls to A range in Oracle+, yet stays a winning pick at both levels.
  • Baba wins 55.77% at all ranks and 56.95% in Oracle+. Her Oracle+ figure is the best of any hero.

Below Oracle, trust the all-ranks letter, since about 3 in 4 of the 108,350 matches are played there. At Oracle and above, read the Oracle+ column: Baba, Wraith, Vyper, Celeste and Holliday gain there, while Paige, Victor and Deadman Danny lose ground.

Best Heroes for Climbing Solo

Solo climbing rewards heroes who win often, rarely get banned and can take a fight without help. Before you can queue Ranked, you need 60 Standard wins, plus 15 Standard wins on each of 3 heroes. Choose those 3 heroes early, because their 45 wins also count toward the 60.

The unlock pool: 1 carry, 1 support, 1 flex

  • Carry: Seven wins 52.35% of his Ranked games and is banned in only 2.2% of matches, so he is almost always open.
  • Support: Paige wins 54.05% with a 3.9% ban rate, the better mix of the 2 S supports for a solo player.
  • Flex: Baba wins 55.77%, the top figure on the list, and she brawls on the front line while draining enemy spirit power.

If Seven is gone, Graves wins more at 55.20% but faces a 16.4% ban rate. Kelvin is the other S support at 54.32%, and Rat King is the other S flex at 54.37%.

More steady picks for solo queue

Ivy wins 53.26% and is banned in just 1.9% of matches. Abrams is a steady frontline pick at 51.91% with a 2.1% ban rate. Wraith wins 53.07%, but 17.0% of matches ban her, so keep a backup ready.

Best Carry, Support and Flex Heroes

The 3 roles group heroes by job. Carry heroes deal the damage, support heroes heal and protect, and flex heroes take space at the front or control it.

Best carry heroes

  1. Graves wins 55.20% of her Ranked games, the best of any carry.
  2. Victor wins 53.30%, down 2.28 points since September.
  3. Wraith wins 53.07% and climbs to 54.19% in Oracle+ games.
  4. Apollo wins 52.55% with a 15.0% ban rate.
  5. Seven wins 52.35% and keeps a low 2.2% ban rate.

Best support heroes

  1. Kelvin wins 54.32%, the best of any support.
  2. Paige wins 54.05% and draws few bans at 3.9%.
  3. Ivy wins 53.26%, up 1.13 points since September.
  4. Dynamo wins 51.72% at all ranks and 51.74% in Oracle+.

Nurse Harrow, the newest support, wins 49.57% on an 84.6% pick rate.

Best flex heroes

  1. Baba wins 55.77%, the top win rate of all 44 heroes.
  2. Rat King wins 54.37% on a 70.4% pick rate.
  3. Abrams wins 51.91% with a 2.1% ban rate.
  4. Lash wins 51.06% on a 37.4% pick rate.
  5. Mo & Krill win 50.52%, down 2.39 points since September.

Most Picked and Most Banned Heroes

The 4 most picked heroes are all new: Nurse Harrow at 84.6%, Rat King at 70.4%, Violet at 67.3% and Deadman Danny at 61.4%. Among older heroes, Haze leads at 53.1%, then Wraith at 41.4% and Bebop at 39.2%.

Every Ranked match has 3 hero bans. These 8 heroes draw the most bans:

HeroBan rateWin rateTier
Haze23.8%51.39%B
Bebop17.5%47.94%D
Wraith17.0%53.07%A
The Doorman16.7%46.28%D
Graves16.4%55.20%S
Celeste15.7%49.14%C
Apollo15.0%52.55%A
Vindicta14.9%49.62%C

A ban works best on a hero who wins often. Graves at 55.20% and Wraith at 53.07% are strong targets. Bebop and The Doorman draw many bans on D win rates of 47.94% and 46.28%, so those bans remove weaker heroes. If you play Haze, expect her to be gone in about 1 match in 4.

Biggest Movers Since September

These changes compare Ranked win rates from 21 to 25 October with Ranked from 16 to 28 September. Between the 2 windows, Valve rebuilt the map and added 6 heroes.

Up since September

  • Wraith rose 3.87 points, from 49.20% to 53.07%.
  • Bebop rose 1.97 points, from 45.97% to 47.94%.
  • Sinclair rose 1.36 points, from 45.51% to 46.87%, despite the 5 October nerf.
  • Ivy rose 1.13 points, from 52.13% to 53.26%.

Down since September

  • Calico is down 3.51 points, from 52.63% to 49.12%.
  • Warden is down 3.20 points, from 46.91% to 43.71%.
  • Grey Talon is down 2.40 points, from 47.07% to 44.67%.
  • Mo & Krill are down 2.39 points, from 52.91% to 50.52%.
  • Victor is down 2.28 points, from 55.58% to 53.30%.

Calico fell from an A range win rate to C. Lady Geist and Yamato each lost just over 2 points, down 2.08 and 2.05.

When Does Deadlock Beta Season 1 End?

Beta Season 1 runs until Thursday 5 November 2026 at 2pm PDT, with the next season starting right after it. The season opened on 30 July with the Matchmaking Update. Valve originally set the end for 7 October, then moved it on 6 October.

Your highest rank of the season is saved in your Rank history, and the hideout gets an item for it. Under the 30 July rules, a new season starts with a soft reset and 8 calibration games. Any rank you reach before 5 November counts toward that season high.

How Ranked Works: Unlock, Calibration and Points

Valve set these rules with the Matchmaking Update on 30 July 2026.

Unlock: 60 Standard wins and 3 heroes

  1. You need 60 wins in Standard mode, and only wins count.
  2. You need 15 Standard wins on each hero you want to pick in Ranked.
  3. You need at least 3 heroes at that 15-win mark.

Spreading Standard wins across many heroes slows the unlock down. If you play only 3 heroes, every win counts toward both marks.

Calibration

Calibration is 8 games, and you play them solo. Your past ranks are soft-reset and used as a starting point. Calibration cannot place you above Oracle VI, so Phantom, Ascendant and Eternus must be earned in Ranked games afterwards.

Points and loss protection

  • Since 2 August, a Ranked game moves you about 300 points, up from about 250 at launch.
  • 1,000 points move you up a subrank, and the last subrank before a new rank takes 2,000.
  • Eternus subranks are set each day by percentile, so they have no fixed point total.
  • Loss protection covers 5 games at a rank boundary and 2 games at a subrank boundary.

Parties, bans and the pregame

  • Ranked is solo or duo only, so a trio cannot queue together.
  • Duo partners must be within 1 rank of each other. At Eternus, both players must be Eternus and within 3 subranks.
  • Ranked games use 3 hero bans, and Standard games use 2.
  • In the pregame you see ranks, set starting lanes and can make 1 swap to another hero you have unlocked for Ranked.

Leaderboards

  • The Ranked leaderboard needs 75 Ranked games in the last 30 days.
  • A hero leaderboard needs 30 games on that hero in 30 days and 100 lifetime wins.

Deadlock Rank Order

Deadlock has 12 ranks. Obscurus is the uncalibrated start, and each of the 11 ranks above it has 6 subranks, I to VI.

What Changed in City Never Sleeps

City Never Sleeps launched on 29 September. Valve gave the map a major visual update, and 4 Districts now sit between the main streets: Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot and Plaza. Haunts replaced the old neutral camps and come in 9 families: Specimen, Past Dues, Gutter Ghouls, Barrel Mimics, Stage Hands, Festival Spirit, Crabbage Pots, Shrooms and Underhands. The update also added the Sunken Plaza, the Bell Tower, Tough Crates, Healing Snacks and Steam Vents.

The Broker swapped high-tier items for Corrupted versions from 29 September until Rat King arrived on 2 October. The patch brought HUD updates, a reworked ping system, hero voting in the pregame lobby and a Source 2 engine update. Ability and item use now fires the moment you press the button. Graves can now destroy Venator's traps with her gun.

October releases and patches

  • 2 October: Rat King joined the roster.
  • 5 October: Valve nerfed Rat King's ultimate and Sinclair, and buffed Scrap Grenade and Rat Swarm.
  • 6 October: Baba joined the roster, and Valve moved the season end to Thursday 5 November.
  • 9 October: Solomon joined the roster.
  • 13 October: Deadman Danny joined the roster.
  • 14 October: Baba took 12 nerf lines, Deadman Danny got 14 buff lines, and Radiant Regeneration spirit scaling fell from 0.04 to 0.035.
  • 16 October: Violet joined the roster.
  • 20 October: Nurse Harrow joined the roster as the last of the 6.

What Changed on 28 and 30 July

The Matchmaking Update landed on 30 July 2026. It split the mode into Ranked and Standard and opened Beta Season 1. Ranked hero bans went from 2 to 3, and the unlock rules above came into force. Your peak rank is saved and earns a hideout item.

The 28 July 2026 Minor Update came 2 days earlier. It cut Shiv's Killing Blow window and stamina and retuned Lady Geist's Life Drain healing and damage. It reshuffled Viscous's Splatter, Puddle Punch and Goo Ball, and it nerfed Venator's sprint and damage falloff.

In July the roster had 38 playable heroes, and Hero Labs listed more without release dates. The latest additions before City Never Sleeps came between January and February 2026: Rem, Graves, Silver, Venator, Celeste and Apollo. Neither July patch added a hero.
