Nutrition professor aims to boost The Gambia’s public health system with Fulbright scholarship

In January, Dr. Toyin Babatunde, an associate professor of nutrition science in East Carolina University’s College of Allied Health Sciences, will head to Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, to help reign in the growing threat of poor diets to public health in West Africa. East Carolina University students grabbed their passports this summer as they participated in numerous study abroad opportunities. ECU engineering students help develop prototype to support amputees in Africa

Hannah Blackburn, Maranda Byrd, Lauren Simpson and Danielle Werts teamed with nonprofit Lev Legacy in Kinston to develop a protective attachment for a prosthetic foot that will be used by amputees in the Ivory Coast. Read the full story about the project.
