Persona 6 is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, Atlus announced during the recent Nintendo Direct. Although no gameplay for Persona 6 has been shown, the developer did include its reveal trailer in the Nintendo Direct along with confirmation that it will be available on the Switch 2. There is still no release date for the game yet, but rumors suggest it could release in Fall 2027.

Following the mega-popular Persona 5, which released almost a decade ago, Atlus' JRPG series is finally getting a new entry. Although Persona fans have been treated to remakes and spin-off games like Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica in recent years, a brand-new installment has been high on many wish lists. As the Persona series celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, Nintendo Switch 2 owners and Persona fans just got some great news about the franchise's next original entry.

Atlus Announces Nintendo Switch 2 Version of Persona 6

Part of the September 9 Nintendo Direct was dedicated to the Persona series, including official confirmation that the Switch 2 will receive Persona 6. The trailer shown was largely the same as the Persona 6 announcement trailer from the June Xbox Games Showcase, only this one featured the Nintendo Switch 2. Persona fans are still awaiting more details about the game, including the reveal of its characters, story, and gameplay elements.

Not much is officially known about Persona 6 at this point, as the sole announcement trailer features very bizarre, almost horror-like imagery. However, Persona 6 recently suffered a massive leak of its Steam achievements, giving fans insight into what they might expect from the upcoming game. This leak, coupled with the recent Nintendo Direct announcement, suggests that a full gameplay reveal for Persona 6 could be coming in the near future, and a release date as early as sometime next year.

Test your knowledge.

Alongside the announcement of a Persona 6 port for Switch 2, the other upcoming Persona release, Persona 4 Revival, also got some good news. Atlus officially confirmed that Persona 4 Revival will be getting a Switch 2 port as well. However, Switch 2 owners will have to wait a bit longer to play P4R on the platform, with the Switch 2 version slated for a May 20, 2027 release, three months after it launches on other platforms on February 18.

The release date delay between the Switch 2 version of Persona 4 Revival and the version on other platforms could mean that Persona 6 releases on Switch 2 at a later date than elsewhere.

Even with Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 still a ways off, there are plenty of other Persona releases coming in the near future to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. Persona is collaborating with Japanese bakery Beard Papa's for an official Persona-themed menu throughout September, and Persona is also crossing over with Cardfight Vanguard to add official cards and decks. More Persona remakes could be on the way as well, with P4R producer Kazuhisa Wada teasing remakes for P1 and P2 coming in the future. It seems there is no shortage of Persona releases for fans to enjoy as they await P6 on the Switch 2.
