Eiichi Kawazoe 川添栄一
From a young age, Eiichi Kawazoe studied calligraphy under his father’s guidance. In the university’s special calligraphy department, he learned kanji from Kiseki Kosaka and Toson Amaishi, and kana from Kitsunan Tanibe and Kayu Hirata. To pursue the fluent Japanese calligraphy of kanji and kana that began with Yukinari, he has collected many ancient documents. He continues to refine his skills to preserve the traditional Japanese characters that developed alongside ukiyo-e. He also writes shrine seals and rakugo title cards, and challenges himself with the characters used in sumo and kabuki.
