U.S. Department of Agriculture USDA Rural Development RD Deputy Under Secretary Justin Maxson and Congressman G. K. Butterfield, NC-01, tour the renovated and expanded Williamston Fire Department. USDA invested $2 million to modernize the town’s fire station, in Williamston NC, on Aug. 30, 2021. The fire department added an expansion from the original building, workroom, storage, office space, an apparatus bay, an equipment bay, meeting, and training room, cooling system, ice maker, wall storage for bunkers, engine bay heaters, energy-efficient windows, and will make improvements to the kitchen and engine bay floor paint. To mark the event, they will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with state and city leaders; and Chiefs from the fire and police departments.
