Exec Team

As the collective voice for energy brokers and consultants across the UK, the Energy Consultants Association exists to inform, support, and represent those shaping the non-domestic energy market every day.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen both progress and poignancy within our community.

We recently said goodbye to our co-founder and Chair, Chris Shaw, whose contribution to the ECA and the wider industry cannot be overstated. His vision for unity, professionalism, and fairness continues to guide everything we do.

In his memory, we’ve decided to pause the launch of the ECA Podcast, as the first episode features Chris heavily. We’ll relaunch this project at a later date, ensuring it honours his legacy in the right way.

While this has been a reflective period, it’s also been one of growth and renewal. Our membership continues to expand, with new brokers joining from across the UK.

We’ve also welcomed three new Executive Team members, each elected by our members to represent their peers and help steer the association’s direction in the months ahead.

Looking Ahead

We’ll be hosting our next Member Open Forum on October 28th. An opportunity to connect directly with the Executive team, share challenges, and help shape our upcoming priorities.

We’re also pleased to confirm the renewal of our partnership with UrbanVolt, continuing to bring members access to sustainable energy solutions and exclusive project tools.

In addition, we’re welcoming Flagship Energy as our newest Associate Partner, joining a growing group of organisations committed to supporting our members and raising standards across the sector.

From the rollout of Market-Wide Half Hourly Settlement (MHHS)to evolving client expectations and compliance standards, the energy consultancy space continues to shift rapidly.

Through these changes, our goal remains the same: to ensure energy brokers are recognised, supported, and equipped to thrive in a fair and transparent market.

Thank you for being part of that mission.

More Details below so read on!

Welcome to Our Newest Members

We’re pleased to welcome several new businesses into the ECA community:

Each of these members strengthens our collective voice. By joining the ECA, they’ve shown a commitment to higher standards, better practices, and a more transparent and credible TPI sector.

As our membership grows, so does our ability to represent brokers at the highest level.

Whether it’s engaging with Ofgem, pushing back against unfair supplier practices, or educating the market on the true value of good consultancy.

We’re excited to have you on board.

Welcome to Our New Executive Team Members

The past few months have brought significant change for the ECA community.

Following the passing of our Chair, Chris Shaw, and the stepping down of Dawn Pratt due to family commitments, we’ve reflected deeply on how far the association has come and the people who helped shape it.

Both Chris and Dawn played an instrumental role in guiding the ECA from its earliest days, and we owe them immense gratitude for their dedication, insight, and belief in what this association could become.

We are pleased to confirm that John Haw CEO of Fidelity Energy Ltd and previously Vice Chair of the Executive Team, has stepped into the role of Chair. John was central to the ECA’s inception and growth alongside Chris and the other founding members, and we’re confident that his continued leadership will help us build on the strong foundations they laid.

We also welcome Mark Gamble, Head of Suppliers, Customer Service and Sales Processing at Utility Bidder, who has joined the Executive Team to provide operational and supplier-side insight.

To further strengthen the team, we recently conducted a member-led election to appoint three new Executive Team members.

Each nominee shared their vision for the ECA’s future, and members cast their votes for the individuals they felt best represented their values and priorities.

We’re delighted to officially welcome the following members to the ECA Executive Team:

Charlotte Dixon — Head of Compliance & Regulation, Utility Aid

“As a newly appointed member of the ECA executive team, I look forward to collaborating with fellow members to strengthen industry standards, champion transparency, and support best practice across the consultant community. My focus will be on ensuring that compliance and regulation are not seen as constraints, but as enablers for sustainable growth and customer confidence.”

James Groves  — Managing Director & Co-Owner, Indigo Swan

“I believe that I can bring a fresh approach to how supplier relationships are managed, problems and issues are raised, and resolutions put into place that benefit the whole membership. I am excited and proud to be in a position to help the ECA membership moving forward and I hope that my passion for our great sector will bring positive change and enhanced relationships for all involved.”

Marc Wheatley — Operations Director, Full Power Utilities

“Great progress has already been made by the ECA, particularly regarding stakeholder engagement and policy reform, but there is a lot more to do and I am looking forward to working with the rest of the ECA exec team, to raise standards and improve consumer experience within the non-domestic energy space. If you are, or you represent, a TPI in the energy sector, I encourage you to join the ECA membership and help us in our work”

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all those who put themselves forward for nomination. Stepping up to represent your peers demonstrates genuine commitment to the association and to the wider energy consultancy sector. You are all a credit to your businesses and the ECA community.

As we move forward, our strengthened Executive Team now includes:

We would also like to recognise PreAction who were instrumental in the creation of the ECA and continue to provide vital operational support behind the scenes. Their ongoing work across marketing, membership, onboarding, and partnerships plays an important role in ensuring the association continues to grow, strengthen its presence in the sector, and deliver consistent value to our members.

Together, this team will continue driving the mission we set out to achieve: to support and represent the UK’s energy brokers and consultants, raise professional standards, and ensure that our sector has a strong, unified voice in the conversations that matter most.

Member Open Forum — October 28th

We’re inviting all members to join us for our next ECA Member Open Forum on Monday 28th October at 11am.

This one-hour session is designed to bring members together for open discussion, reflection, and collaboration. It’s your chance to meet the Executive Team, share the challenges you’re facing, highlight recent successes, and help shape the focus of the ECA over the coming months.

The forum is one of the most valuable parts of membership, where honest conversation turns into collective action. Every contribution helps ensure our advocacy, resources, and events continue to reflect the real-world needs of brokers and consultants.

Alongside this, we’re also preparing a series of upcoming webinars covering some of the most important topics affecting our sector.

These will include:

  • Associate Partner sessions, showcasing expert insights from our official partners.
  • Guidance sessions on Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS), TNUoS reforms, ESL updates, and other key regulatory changes shaping the broker landscape.

We also offer limited opportunities for external businesses to present to our members, provided their sessions deliver genuine value and relevance. More information on these opportunities will be shared later in this issue.

Finally, with over 110 active stakeholders now contributing to our member chat channel, we’re continuing to see the benefits of direct communication between brokers, suppliers, and partners. This community remains one of the most immediate ways to stay informed on market developments and share peer-to-peer advice.

If you haven’t yet joined the conversation, now’s the time to get involved. Your insight and participation make a real difference to how we grow together as a sector.

Partnership Updates — UrbanVolt & Flagship Energy

We’re pleased to confirm that UrbanVolt has renewed its partnership with the ECA for another year.

UrbanVolt has been a valued associate partner since 2024, helping our members deliver credible, low-carbon energy solutions to their clients with confidence.

Through this partnership, members gain access to UrbanVolt’s exclusive solar pricing calculator, enabling fast and accurate project quotations.

Their Solar-as-a-Service model removes upfront costs, while UrbanVolt manages everything from consultation and installation to long-term maintenance. For brokers, this means a seamless way to introduce sustainable solutions, strengthen client relationships, and earn referral payments—without adding operational complexity.

This renewed collaboration continues to align with our shared goal of supporting brokers in leading the energy transition through practical, commercially viable options for clients.

We’re also pleased to welcome Flagship Energy Ltd as the newest addition to our Associate Partner network.

Flagship Energy combines decades of market experience with forward-thinking strategies to help TPIs and businesses manage risk, reduce costs, and build smarter, more sustainable energy portfolios. Their focus on transparency and innovation makes them an ideal partner for our members and the wider ECA community.

As part of this partnership, Flagship will be providing weekly market reports and ongoing resources to support members in staying informed and proactive in their client conversations.

We’ll be formally introducing the Flagship Energy team in an upcoming webinar—details to be confirmed soon.

Partnership & Advertising Opportunities

As a not-for-profit association, every partnership and campaign we undertake directly supports our mission to represent, protect, and empower energy brokers across the UK. Our goal is not profit, but progress—ensuring brokers have a strong, unified voice and access to the resources they need to succeed.

With over 70+ member businesses, an email subscriber base of more than 800 industry professionals, a LinkedIn community of over 3,200 followers, and around 2,000 monthly blog visits, the ECA continues to expand its reach and influence across the non-domestic energy market.

We’re now inviting organisations and solution providers to explore collaboration with us—either as Associate Members or through ad-hoc promotional opportunities designed to reach our broker community.

Becoming an Associate Member provides:

  • Opportunities to deliver webinars, insight sessions, and thought leadership content.
  • Visibility across member communications, newsletters, and events.
  • Direct engagement with decision-makers across the UK brokerage sector.

For businesses that want to connect with our audience without full partnership, we also offer targeted advertising opportunities throughout the year, giving exposure via our newsletter, member portal, and online community.

These partnerships help us continue funding independent advocacy, member resources, and education initiatives that benefit the entire sector—ensuring we remain fully member-led and self-sustaining.

Whether you’re a technology provider, sustainability specialist, supplier, or professional service supporting brokers, partnering with the ECA is a chance to make a meaningful contribution while reaching an active, credible audience that continues to grow month by month.

The more our community grows, the louder our voice becomes. Every new member, associate partner, and supporter adds weight to the message we have carried since day one: energy brokers deserve recognition, fair treatment, and a seat at the table.
