- 1988–1996
During Singapore’s economic boom, Daniel Liu’s parents, who came from a humble fishing village background, moved to Singapore to work in a luggage factory. Determined to break the cycle of poverty for future generations, they endured years of hard work and frugal living, gradually saving a modest sum.
- 1997
With their savings and a vision for quality products, Daniel Liu’s parents returned to China and established a small family-run luggage workshop, which they named EMAY Luggage. Around that time, China’s export industry was rapidly growing. EMAY soon connected with several Japanese clients, and the business quickly gained traction.

- 1988–1996
During Singapore’s economic boom, Daniel Liu’s parents, who came from a humble fishing village background, moved to Singapore to work in a luggage factory. Determined to break the cycle of poverty for future generations, they endured years of hard work and frugal living, gradually saving a modest sum.
- 1997
With their savings and a vision for quality products, Daniel Liu’s parents returned to China and established a small family-run luggage workshop, which they named EMAY Luggage. Around that time, China’s export industry was rapidly growing. EMAY soon connected with several Japanese clients, and the business quickly gained traction.
- 1998–2007
EMAY experienced steady growth. The team expanded from just over 10 workshop workers to a workforce of more than 100, marking the company’s transformation from a small operation into a growing manufacturer.
- 2008
The global financial crisis hit EMAY’s overseas clients hard. Large quantities of high-value ordered luggage were left in the warehouse, and payments stalled, pushing the company to the brink of bankruptcy. It was during this critical period that Daniel Liu officially took over the management of the factory from his parents.
- 2009–2018
After navigating through the company’s most difficult chapter, Daniel Liu began diversifying EMAY’s product offerings. The company expanded into hardshell suitcases, aluminum-frame luggage, backpacks, and more, growing to a team of over 200 employees. More importantly, EMAY evolved from a quality OEM manufacturer into a comprehensive luggage solutions provider, offering services that span the entire production chain—from product ideation and design to large-scale manufacturing, including in-house production of raw materials and components.
- 2019–2025
Today, EMAY continues its steady growth. The company now operates three specialized factories, each focusing on a distinct product category: fabric suitcases and backpacks, zipper hardshell luggage, and aluminum-frame suitcases. EMAY is now recognized as a leading name in customized luggage manufacturing, and is committed to becoming a world-class manufacturer in this industry.
