I never used to eat toast as often as I do now
that I have this in my kitchen. I wasn't one for bread but now I need it every morning and for dessert after dinner. OMG. This toaster oven changes everything I knew about toast and how to experience quality toasted bread. My toast always ends up toasty and crunchy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside (I use Japanese bread btw). I know this sounds ridiculous and a bit exaggerated but if I honestly did not like this product, I would have no problem dumping all over this review no problem. First of all, it's lightweight and compact. I can parade this bad boy around our house on my own without strain. This makes it a superb choice for those with minimal kitchen or counter space. It comes in black and white (we chose black to match our kitchen), and it offers a sleek, sophisticated touch to any kitchen. The instructions were easy to understand (a lot of things are repetitive in multiple booklets so it must be important) but you do need to read them so don't skip them. This is not a product you just brute force or raw dog without figuring it out first. While setting it up for use is quite easy, it does take some time to get used to in terms of how long to cook something for as certain types of foods/breads/pizzas, etc require different cooking times and water measurements for the steam. It's definitely a trial and error process to get the doneness of something to the way you want it. There are two knobs on the front of the machine. The left knob dictates the type of food you're preparing - you have the 4 presets which require water (shokupan/sandwich bread, golden toast, pizza, and croissant) as well as Salamander mode which requires no water to use. The right knob is your timer as well as the power button. This product is quite luxurious and rightfully so very pricey, so I understand that it's not within everyone's budget. This isn't my first time using a Balmuda product so I've very aware of the care and craftsmanship that goes into making their products and for that reason, I can totally respect their prices. It's just something you have to experience to understand for yourself.

This toaster oven looks nice, is well built, has easy to use controls…and it has a fatal flaw. It toasts very unevenly, see attached pictures. I contacted company’s support and they said they focus on the taste so this unevenness is expected. Was not able to return it as the refund window closed in less than 30 days and I didn’t act in time…

For the price point it’s a no for me. I use bake function on my toaster ovens. First off it doesn’t come with a bake pan for that price. Using the bake function it did do a great job heating evenly but it wasn’t as powerful as my other name brand toaster which is actually cheaper and has more accessories and modes. I put two beef patties in there. It usually takes 15 minutes at 400 in my other toaster oven. Always heats up perfectly. On this toaster I needed another 15 minutes to heat up. This is not going to be my main toaster. It’ll stay in the guests kitchen. The price and performance don’t match. It’s a great size for a small kitchen or kitchenette. It has steam features that I will probably never use. But based on the bling mode which I use a lot. This falls very short. If it wasn’t close to $400 probably wouldn’t have the reaction from me that it got.
