Other things to note
Recent review from Trip Advisor: “Best friends wedding venue”
We spent almost a week here for my best friends wedding in June. My boyfriend had never been to Bali, but as soon as we got to the Villas, he was blown away! The wedding organiser Palani was so attentive and responsive to my friend and the wedding party and all the associated family and friends. We had the most incredible time and we will be back for sure!! The scenery is trye Balinese jungle and the pools are all glorious! The photos don't do justice to the actual environment.
The only down side was that the aircon was fine for day to day use, but when trying to get ready in wedding and bridesmaid dresses, it was hard to find a room that was cool enough, but I guess that's what you get for getting married in Bali. Also, expect a bit of a wait for taxis to get in and out, as your out of ubud, you have to wait for them to get to you. Such minor elements to a phenomenal place!

Neighborhood highlights

The little village of Nyuh Kuning in Ubud, Bali has many claims to fame and quiet and green are only the beginning. In the 70s and 80s David Bowie and Mick Jagger would land their helicopters on the football field in the center of the village to visit their friend, the British designer Linda Garland. It is even rumored that some Bowie’s ashes are strewn in the river that glides through this beautiful part of the world. In 2007, the film ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem was filmed in and around this picturesque village. Ubud has never been the same since the release of that movie which has raised the hope amongst many around the world of finding love in Bali. Traditional healers have become superstars and vegans have found their mecca.

Hollywood and pop royalty aside, Nyuh Kuning (literally translated as Yellow Coconut village) is also home to Robin Lim, CNN’s Hero of the Year 2012, who founded a birthing clinic (Yayasan Bumi Sehat) that dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates in Bali. There is an orphan day care center, Permata Hati Foundation which brilliantly enlists visitors and expats as sponsors for children who have lost their parents.

It is this mixture of glamour, spirituality and community spirit that makes Nyuh Kuning one of the most interesting village in Bali.

My work: Villa Beji Indah

Villa Beji Indah began as a private sanctuary nestled in the peaceful village of Nyuh Kuning, Ubud. Over time, it evolved into a lush riverside retreat with a mission far beyond hospitality.
