If outsourcing starts under pressure, it’s already too late. Outsourcing in game dev is often treated as a pressure release when the going gets tough. 🌡️ But in reality, the teams that get the most value from it plan for it early – and build it into how they operate from the start. This idea came up repeatedly in our session "Outsourcing without the Overhead: Practical Tips for Smarter Collaboration" at this year's GDC Festival of Gaming. If you missed it, we’ve broken down the key insights and takeaways in our latest Lab article, including: – Why strong internal alignment sets partnerships up for success – What many teams get wrong during onboarding, and how to fix it – How clear, consistent communication reduces risk across teams Read the full article for insights from Side, Behaviour Interactive, Bloober Team, and Virtuos: 👉 https://bit.ly/4tWrBnl Thanks to our Senior Director of Music & Sound, Mathieu Lavoie, for sharing these perspectives alongside leaders from across the industry.

I'm really excited to be speaking at MIGS 2026. Every studio has lived both failure states. The game that ships without a soul. The game that never ships at all. Same root cause. And it's not the one most leaders think. My talk: The Environment Is the Strategy: Balancing Creative Ambition and Production Reality Will dig deep into the root cause, and solution you can take back to your teams! 📍 Montreal International Game Summit #MIGS2026 #GameDev #Leadership #AlwaysPlayable
