What we love: The soothing sense of satisfaction. As you clean up oil spills in eight areas, the waters slowly transform from an icky brown to a crystal-clear blue. Watching dolphins jump and sea turtles frolic—all because you made their habitat livable again—is a heartwarming reward for a job well done.

Quick tip: To get the in-game achievement for fully cleaning an area, be sure to remove all traces of oil (including washing any black gunk off the shoreline) and nudge every plastic bottle back to the recycling plant. Don’t forget the submerged oil barrels—grab them with your magnetic crane and drop them off for disposal.

Meet the creator: Dutch solo developer Lente Cuenen—who grew up on a houseboat outside Amsterdam—bought and renovated her own cozy boat, complete with solar panels and an electric engine. It’s where she lives, and fittingly, where she crafted Spilled!
