LingQ | Learn Languages
Ratings & Reviews
I can’t speak highly enough about this platform. I’ve used most language learning apps (and still use others because I enjoy mixing things up) but LingQ is by far the #1 language learning platform. I lived and studied in Japan and China for 8 years (fluent in both). I use LingQ to maintain and grow the languages I know as well as learn new languages. LingQ enabled me to attain an intermediate level in Ukrainian (which I am still working on). Excellent app!
Developer ResponseDear user, thank you very much for sharing your valuable feedback. We’re glad you’re enjoying LingQ!
I'm fascinated by the application, it's really wonderful! The only negative thing I don't like is that I can select a limit of a paragraph and see only that limit translated, if the paragraph is long I can't select it completely and you don't realize that you just start with the app, If I could also translate the whole paragraph would be perfect, although being able to translate every word and listen to every word is great.
Developer ResponseThanks for the feedback! Phrase LingQs are currently limited to up to 9 words within the same sentence. For longer sections, you can switch to sentence mode to see the full translation, and also enable sentence-by-sentence translations in the reader settings.
I have an intermediate-advanced level of French, so simple vocabulary apps don’t do much for increasing my level. LingQ is extremely helpful for practicing listening, reading, and speaking (if you repeat content out loud). I’ve tried lots of ways to keep my skill up over the years, but LingQ is the only one that’s really been able to help me improve and stay consistent. Highly recommend.

This is more of a question than a review. I’ve been with LingQ for about 1.5 years and I enjoy most everything on it. I have found meeting my daily challenge motivating but for about 2 weeks, despite spending sometimes as much as 45 minutes listening and reading a podcast and “lingqing” new words in my target language, I earn very few coins. That’s way different! What changed or what am I missing??
Developer ResponseThanks for your review! You can learn more about coins and the values you get for each type of interaction here: https://forum.lingq.com/t/how-to-earn-coins-and-what-to-do-with-them/8378
Great way to learn by reading and listening and marking the words as you go, but it’s clunky and you have to make your own curriculum. Wish there was a series after the mini stories that brings up frequent words in different contexts so that they stick. Also would be good to have a vocabulary trainer to automatically keep repeating flash cards in proper intervals. Especially words that are left over from prior lessons.
Developer ResponseThanks for the thoughtful feedback. LingQ is built around learning through reading and listening in real content, but we understand that clearer guidance and smarter vocabulary review would make the experience easier. We’ll keep working on improving both.
So far I’m at a high a2 in Spanish lots of content on here and the app makes it pretty easy to import your own allowing you to Scan with the camera pages one after another you could import any book if you took a bit of time also other with methods to but, wish it was easier to find content on my level though and more of it that’s not dry is my biggest issue good app at any level for sure
