Oh, biscuits! Bluey’s imaginary world is in peril – and to save it, you’ll need to retrieve a very special object.

From Bluey creator Joe Brumm and developer Halfbrick, Bluey’s Quest for The Gold Pen lets you play as the stars of the hit show. We spoke with Brumm about creating this pup-roarious adventure.

After Bluey’s roof collapses, her sidekick Bingoose (that would be Bingo) is ready to help raise funds for the repair by laying valuable golden eggs. The bad news? King Goldie Horns (that would be Dad) stole the golden pen that Bingoose needs to lay more eggs!

Pen thief is an unusual role for Bluey’s usually playful dad. “In the game, he’s got a character I rarely get to write into an episode. Here he’s a maniacal Midas-style, gold-obsessed king,” Brumm says.

That said, Bandit isn’t totally out of character, adds Brumm.

“There’s no malice. It’s a rainy day and he’s just trying to keep the kids occupied and having fun.”

Built for fans of all ages, Bluey’s Quest for The Gold Pen lets you play at your own pace through each level. Whether deftly jumping across moving platforms or shifting giant golden boulders with a magic wand, kids choose what challenges to tackle in pursuit of the elusive pen — a coveted object that was drawn from Brumm’s own life.

“When my kids were growing up, they always wanted my gold pen,” he explains. “It was this precious, expensive pen. They were obsessed!”

The game’s hand-drawn art — an ode to Bluey’s “Escape” and “Dragon” episodes — mirrors the look and feel of the show.

“I hope younger players feel like they’re in an episode,” Brumm says. “At the end of the day, this wasn’t about making a big emotional story. This is just about making kids laugh.”

In the Cliffs level, don’t assume you’re at a dead end. Alternating between your jetpack and glider will take your exploration to new heights — and reveal hidden areas where more playful challenges await.
