Do you want to create fun travel videos but struggle with the ins and outs of editing? YouTuber Lotmainidea, known for her eye-opening Japan travelogues, reveals her team’s favourite Adobe Premiere editing techniques for the next time inspiration strikes mid-trip.

Unlock multitrack editing
Unlike some apps that limit editing to a single track, the mobile version of Adobe Premiere inherits its desktop version’s multitrack functionality, letting you arrange and adjust segments without the constraints of a linear process. The app is optimised for vertical screens and offers a draggable player and timeline interface. Tap and hold the expand icon on the upper left of a track to drag or zoom for easier editing.
Create eye-catching cutouts
Spice up your images with the striking effects of Adobe Premiere’s “Remove background” function. Select the clip, then tap “Remove background” to let the app automatically apply a mask isolating the subject, which you can then freely move or resize.
Too busy capturing the breathtaking view to set up a tripod and be part of the shot? Just record a separate clip and teleport yourself into frame.
Tailor your visuals
Social media platforms have their own preferred aspect ratios, but Adobe Premiere makes it easy to cut to size. Tap the aspect ratio icon at the top of the screen to see a range of options with helpful labels noting applicable platforms. Not only can you switch between landscape and portrait orientation with a single tap, you can also adjust your video’s position and framing with your fingers before effortlessly pushing it to your socials.
