Movie Player - Films & Videos
Ratings & Reviews
Overall a good app, however it has lost the ident photo from the videos, so some films appear with a photo, others do not. What would also be useful and I thought this used to happen was to be able to use a slider to generate the ident photo from a memorable place within the film. So close but only 4 stars.
Plays all file types I need and works well. Has made my life a bit easier. There are a few bugs though:• If you switch apps or close the app without exiting the movie you are playing, it doesn't remember where you got to and starts from the beginning again. Very annoying if you want to switch and switch back again very quickly to answer a message or something.• If an alarm goes off or you get a phone call the sound stops working. Have to exit and restart the app to reset.• There is are handy "rewind" and "fast-forward" buttons, but they skip a minute either way which is way too much. If you are skipping the intro titles or just missed the last thing that was said, 30 seconds or even 10 seconds would be more useful. It would mean if you needed to skip a minute you just hit it a few times, but for most instances when you don't need that much it would give more control.• If the phone gets near full storage capacity, the app just deletes all of it's files. I could understand a warning or maybe deleting the latest file or watched files at most, but this seems like an over-reaction to something that should be in the users control.• There is no way to freeze rotation. And if you use the phone's built in method, it freezes the video in portrait mode and you can't see it! This would be a really handy addition for when you are lying in bed watching or sitting at a funny angle.
Just tried to leave constructive feedback on this app through the developer's website but the form doesn't work on the iPad. Disappointing considering this is an iPad app. Anyway, I wasn't intending to leave this feedback so openly but seeing as there is no other mechanism in place..."Hi. I thought I'd provide some feedback on this purchase. I guess you know about the frustrating lip sync issue during playback already . However more important for me is the ability to play movies received by email. There is an issue that if the "connect your iPad with iTunes" screen is showing the app will not open video email attachments anymore. If you uninstall and reinstall it works until you go through to this screen. If you have one movie installed it works ok. Am hoping this is a easy bug fix that you can roll out in your next update."
I wanted something to play some of my (non mp3) mkv video files, that were saved to my iCloud. I tried iPhone Xtream player but that app, I found was useless, it required all access to my photos and even then I couldn’t navigate to iCloud. Maybe you had to save the file to the exact location on the phones memory or something, which was a headache and would have cost me phone memory. This app mp movie player app was brilliant, you simply add the movies to it by navigating within the app very easily. Brilliant job.
Whilst I'm sure this app will indeed play lots of different formats of file, it won't like them if they're encoded with high bit rates. Most of my files are 2000fps or higher, which this app doesn't seem to like. This could be a limitation in the iPad hardware and the way the movies are processed on the fly, but suffice to say, this is somewhat annoying having bought the app and finding your movies are juttery and unwatchable. My advice for those with high bit rate files is to avoid this for the time being. Who knows, a future update may resolve this issue. But in the meantime it's unusable.
Not sure what the big problem is with people complaining that certain files don't play... Plays all my media fine VOB & MKV. All I can say is you must have your files encoded in a very odd format, mine are all uncompressed (6Gb per film) and plays at the correct speed and in fantastic quality. Either upgrade your device or get a better quality rip. (used with iPad2)
