Looking for a regular meditation practice to help you navigate through life’s ups and downs? The Smiling Mind app could be the answer: designed by psychologists and backed by years of research, it offers more than 700 meditations to help support the mental wellness of both adults and children.
What we love: Smiling Mind is a “full mental fitness toolkit”, helping your family build resilience and skills in a number of areas such as cultivating relationships, getting a better night’s sleep and managing complex emotions. We also love that for First Nations users, there is the option to listen to some meditations in Kriol, Ngaanyatjarra and Pitjantjatjara.

Quick tip: Tailor your meditation preferences on the Settings tab (by tapping the cog in the top-right corner and then selecting App preferences). You can choose from male or female voices, pick a background music of choice such as Soothing Saxophone, Light Rain or White Noise, and select the age group the content should be tailored for.
Meet the creator: Smiling Mind is an Australian not-for-profit organisation founded by entrepreneurs Janey Martino and James Tutton. The pair believe that everyone should have the tools needed to achieve mental fitness, which is why the app has always been free.
