Great hardware ruined by creepy surveillance, time to cancel my unlimited subscription

I was genuinely impressed with the PLAUD Note hardware and the transcription/summary quality at first. Solid device, clean app, useful AI features. I even upgraded to the top-tier PLAUD+ (or whatever the premium/Pro plan is called) because I thought this was a company I could trust with my private voice recordings.Then I received an email that literally said “You Haven’t Checked Your Summaries Yet” with a big “VIEW NOW” button, reminding me that I had unopened transcripts and summaries waiting.Let that sink in!!! They are actively monitoring whether I’ve opened and read my own private recordings. They know exactly which files I have or haven’t viewed. If they’re tracking that level of activity inside my personal account, what else are they silently watching? How long I listen?Which parts I replay? What the content is about?This isn’t a harmless reminder. This is blatant user surveillance dressed up as a “helpful” nudge. My meetings, my personal voice notes, my private thoughts; none of that is their business once it’s on my device and in my account.As soon as I saw that notification I felt sick.Total breach of trust.I’m deleting the app, factory resetting the device, cancelling my premium subscription, and will never trust PLAUD again. Fantastic hardware let down by a company that clearly doesn’t respect basic privacy boundaries.Stay away unless you’re okay with them peeking over your shoulder at everything you record.(1 star only because zero isn’t an option)

The reminder is triggered only by basic file metadata—similar to email unread status—and never by content. This feature was added to help many users avoid missing important notes. I have lengthy conversations with clients and the only way I can remember is if I take notes but then feel I’mNot 100% present and miss crucial information. Since using Plaud my conversation focus is much better as my summary post call helps me to know what was covered and what action steps myself and the team need to action. I feel much more in control of my client meetings now in person and on phone. A great tool for 2026!

The plaud hardware and ai ability works seamlessly together. The online reviews are accurate and the product does deliver. Price is a factor, definitely at the higher end by the time you invested in the device and pay for the ongoing subscription. You’ll want to be using it a few times a week to get value.
