Hypnospace Outlaw takes place inside a retro-inspired internet, and it’s your job to keep your fellow digital citizens safe.
Join the Hypnospace Patrol Department and hunt down wrongdoers from every corner of the web, all while checking emails, downloading dubious software and dodging viruses targeting your fictional Y2K computer.
Logging in
In Hypnospace Outlaw, the internet is somewhere you visit in your sleep – a bizarre and bustling digital dreamworld.
Your first stop is Hypnospace Patrol Department Enforcer Training, where you’ll be introduced to a special version of HypnOS built just for Enforcers. Here, you’ll learn the laws of the internet, get to grips with your toolkit and figure out how to manage your cases.
You’ll also have a personal digital assistant by your side at all times: HYPII, the Hypnospace Intelligence Intermediary. HYPII lives on your screen, keeping you updated on important emails and alerting you to any incoming virus attacks.
Enforce the Hypnospace law
As an Enforcer, you’ll track down and investigate crimes including copyright infringement, the creation of malicious software and other outright illegal activity. Search through quirky websites to find clues, gather evidence and build your case.
You’ll browse a fascinating fictional internet, from personal homepages and fan pages to heated group forum drama and the shadowy corners of Hypnospace where hackers and lawbreakers lurk.
Complete your cases and you’ll earn Hypnocoins, the online currency you can spend on new software, music and desktop backgrounds.
Surf an alternate web
If you’re feeling nostalgic for the internet of the late ’90s, or simply love weird and wonderful aesthetics, Hypnospace Outlaw lets you dive straight in and explore it all.
You can customise your desktop backgrounds and screensavers, and download GIFs and MIDI files to your heart’s content. The game also boasts an incredible retro-inspired soundtrack, primarily crafted by the game’s developer, Jay Tholen, himself.
