APIC is the leading professional association for infection preventionists (IPs), with approximately 15,000 members located across all 50 U.S. states and more than 70 countries.  Infection preventionists work to prevent healthcare-associated infections by isolating sources of infections and developing and implementing evidence-based practices to prevent and contain the spread of dangerous organisms. They practice across a myriad of healthcare settings including hospitals, outpatient clinics, long-term care, and ambulatory surgery centers.
