Chimneystack Geometry Measurements using laser scanning – A Simulation and Sensitivity Study
In this study, a new method is suggested for checking the construction quality of a chimney by observing its geometry through lase scanners.A standard approach towards conducting the entire survey leading to quality check is presented. Leveraging the present standard approach and developed simulation program, simulated results are output - these results give interesting insights into the error trends for measurement of some geometrical aspects of industrial chimneys.

The confusion around transitional rules for real estate projects just got solved. The FTA released Public Clarification CTP009 today - critical guidance every Dubai real estate developer must understand immediately. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Only pre-2024 elements qualify for transitional adjustments. If you owned land before 2024 but started construction after, only the land portion qualifies as "Qualifying Immovable Property" - not the buildings. 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: → Market valuations must come from approved UAE authorities (DLD, DMA, etc.) → Third-party valuations will be rejected →Elections are irrevocable except in exceptional circumstances 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝: Market Value at tax start minus higher of (original cost OR net book value) = Excluded gain 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐰: 1. Review every project against these guidelines 2. Separate pre-2024 assets from subsequent construction 3. Obtain proper government authority valuations 4. Document your methodology - you can't change it later 𝐌𝐲 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Most developers have been operating on assumptions rather than clear guidance. This removes the ambiguity, but incorrect applications can result in substantial penalties. This is the most important corporate tax update for developers since 2024.
